Anthony MoorePieces From The Cloudland Ballroom ... LP
Polydor/Wah Wah (Spain), 1971. New Copy (reissue)... $29.99
The first solo album from Anthony Moore – best known as one of the founding members of Slapp Happy, but here emerging as a hell of a contemporary composer – with an approach that ties together the avant and underground rock worlds of the early 70s – a bit like some of the Brian Eno-produced albums on the Obscure label! "Jam Jem Jim Jom Jum" is a long piece that takes up all of side one – and features five voices each repeating different passages, and shifting in space – essentially the words "Jam", "Jem", "Jim", "Jom", "Jum", and "Ba" – which are phrased differently, in different phases, and combined with some really cool keyboards. "Mu Na Huile Ni A Shaoileas Iad" is a keyboard piece – and has a vibe that's almost like a slow-moving Terry Riley piece, but with more "crystal" sounding keyboards. "ABCB Gol'Fish" is another keyboard number, with some snapping hi-hat alongside the pulse – all ringing out in a beautiful minimalist groove! (Rock, Out Sound) LP, Vinyl record album

Anthony MooreSecrets Of The Blue Bag ... LP
Polydor/Wah Wah (Spain), 1972. New Copy (reissue)... $29.99
Really lovely work from Anthony Moore – a contemporary composer in the early 70s, but one with strong ties to the art work world too! The set was done right before Moore's debut album with Slapp Happy – and features a string trio and a female voice – all spun out in these long, cyclical passages – at a level that's almost like a meeting of older string chamber modes and the energy of the Terry Riley generation! The album's sub-titled as "A Story For John Cage" – but has a vibe that's much more lovely and tuneful than any of his music – and which is almost a precursor to some of the work to come on the Obscure or Editions EG labels.
