Cluster & Eno —
Cluster & Eno ... LP Sky/Bureau B (Germany), 1977. New Copy (reissue)...

A key meeting between 2 important forces in electronic music in the 70s – the increasingly-experimental Brian Eno and the Cluster team of Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius! Unlike the trio's other album, this one's an all-instrumental affair – one that takes the atmospherics of Cluster, and gives them a darker Eno edge – in a way that gives the record an incredibly moody feel, and predates endless electronic work to come in the 90s. There's a spare brilliance here that's almost indescribable – songs that are hardly songs, sounds that slide back into silence – but somehow the whole thing's got a power that's far beyond the sum of its very small parts. Titles include "Wehrmut", "Fur Luise", "One", and "Die Bunge". (Rock, Out Sound)LP, Vinyl record album
A set that's even weirder and more wonderful than you might guess from the title – not really psychedelic at all, but music that takes off into the farther reaches of the electronic experiments that were begun on the German scene in the 70s! There's a blend of analog and digital electronics going on here, and while some tracks have some noisier elements in the mix, there's also a relatively rhythmic feel to most selections too – very much in the territory of the Sky Records scene that Bureau B has done such a great job reissuing over the years – but also stretched to encompass selections from a number of different labels too! Titles include "Nachtspaziergang (Tape 40)" by Heiko Maile, "Strahsund" by Die Partei, "Two Faces" by Rolf Trostel, "Full Steam Ahead" by Michael Bundt, "Etwas" by Moebius, "Scharfer Schnitt No 1" by Populare Mechanik, "Emphasis" by Harald Grosskopf, "Live Line" by You, "Quitting Time" by Bernd Kistenmacher, and "Pulsar" by Phantom Band.
