Ronnie Aldrich —
Soft & Wicked ... LP Phase 4, 1972. Near Mint- Gatefold ...
$4.99
Ronnie Aldrich and his "two pianos" run through lush, easy arrangements of breezy pop numbers. A groovy favorite with lots of mellow goodness here to keep the mood flowing all night long, featuring a dozen numbers in all, including "Last Tango In Paris", "You're So Vain", "Good Time Charlie", "Killing Me Softly With His Song", "It Never Rains In Southern California", "Love Theme (From The Valachi Papers)", "Oh Babe, What Would You Say", "Clair", "Call Me (Come Back Home)" and "Aubrey". LP, Vinyl record album
Exactly the kind of record that makes us love sound library records so much – and definitely the sort that sets the style apart from anything else we can think of! Both Sandro Brugnolini and Giorgio Carnini turn in some great work here – a mindblowing mix of modes over the space of ten short tracks – some tunes a cascading array of instrumentation, in a hip groove that's neither American jazz or soundtrack funk, but a special space of its own! Other tunes use an electronic approach that's years ahead of its time – as groovy as 60s analogue, but a lot darker, too – in ways that the rest of the world might not touch until the German new wave. The balance is almost even between swinging groovers and darker electronic cuts – and titles include "Grinta", "Azione CIA", "Scalo Clandestino", "Alambicco Cibernetico", "Strutture Generative", "Omicido Bianco", and "CIA Massacre". (Sound Library, Now Sound)LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono pressing in a flip-back cover, with light wear, yellowing from age, price sticker remnants, a small split in the bottom seam, and is bent at the edges.)
One of the most memorable Esquivel albums, and perhaps the first record that really let him hit his fantastic mix of off-beat orchestrations and spacey electronicized production! The arrangements are splendid, with echoey piano lines in the front that seem to trail off into the stratosphere. Behind them, the orchestra swings in a tight rocket-fueled way, soaring and dipping to match the oddly arranged piano lines. Titles include "Playfully", "That Old Black Magic", "Speak Low", "It Had To Be You", and "Night & Day". Plus, the cover's got a groovily attired model, hanging out in a very green lunar scene! LP, Vinyl record album
(Living Stereo pressing with deep groove. Cover has half split top & bottom seams, some surface wear, name in pen on the back.)
One of the rarest albums ever from the legendary Mort Garson – an all-electronic film score, one that was originally only available on record in the lobby of a Seattle theater that was showing the film! The tracks are shorter than on some of Garson's more commercial projects of the time, and there's a lot more of them too – all with a vibe that resonates nicely with some of Mort's more private recordings, including some of his advertising work – showing that even though the project was a small one, Garson was still bringing his all to the music. Titles include "Sail Sail", "Kevin's Theme", "No Smoking", "Bamboo City", "Walk To Grange Hall", "Jeep Ride", "Dead Tree", "Walk To The Other Side Of The Island"- and "Virgil's Theme". LP, Vinyl record album
