✨✧ Michel LegrandMichel Legrand Sings ... LP
Philips, Mid 60s. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Classic vocal material by Michel Legrand, an artist who's better known to the world for his groovy writing and arranging for soundtracks and instrumental pop albums. Legrand's singing is quite nice, though – and he's got a sweetly raspy voice that has an honest quality that's extremely capitivating, and which doesn't have the over-emotional approach of other French singers from the time. The record also features instrumentation by Legrand's orchestra, which means that the tracks have a nice jazzy sound to them. Titles include "Quand Ca Balance", "L'Amour En Scie", "Qui Es-Tu?", "Mois Je Suis La", and "Regarde Le Mort". (French, Now Sound) LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo white label promo pressing with deep groove. Cover has a bit of light wear and a promo stamp.)

✨✧ Michel LegrandMichel Legrand Plays For Dancers (aka Archi-Cordes) ... LP
Philips, 1964. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
One of the first moments of grooviness from Michel Legrand in the 60s – a set that takes his older orchestral style and fits it to a really mod set of rhythms! The album's filled with jaunty grooves – leaping sort of numbers that almost have a "yeh yeh" French pop approach, but which are instrumental throughout – topped with these swirling strings that step along at a clip to match the rhythms, and backed with lots of groovy organ from Legrand, and guitar from the legendary Elek Bacsik! There's even some wordless vocals scatting through the mix – and the sound's unlike anything else that Legrand ever did – a great precursor to his famous soundtracks, but a real standout record as well. Titles include the famous "Di Gue Ding Ding" – a cut you'll recognize right away – plus "Motor City", "Bandol", "Alcatraz", "Da We Da", "Monkey Business", "Manhattan Stroll", "Hi Girls", "Come Ray & Come Charles", and "Noix De Coco". (French, Now Sound) LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Nelson RiddleVive Legrand – Nelson Riddle Salutes Michel Legrand ... LP
Daybreak, 1973. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Tremendous stuff – an ultra-groovy 70s album from Nelson Riddle – with a sweet style that's very much like his two classics for MPS at the time! The songs are all Michel Legrand numbers – more than enough to entice our ears – and Riddle handles them with a nice mix of lush instrumentation and tighter rhythms – so that there's usually a nice gentle groove to the music, which works perfectly for Legrand's tunes! Titles include "Pieces Of Dreams", "I Will Wait For You", "Mon Amour", "Amy's Theme", "My Paris Friend", "Watch What Happens", and "Picasso Summer". LP, Vinyl record album
(A nice copy.)

✨✧ VariousMood Mosaic Vol 1 – The Haschish Party ... CD
Partners In Crime (Italy), Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A wonderfully groovy set – every bit as great as you might guess from the title and the cover – and the very first installment in the now-legendary Mood Mosaic series! The set's one of the few to bring together tunes from the groovier side of the spectrum at the end of the 60s – work from British, French, American, and German sources – all awash in a great blend of funky, easy, and pop-oriented modes! There's a nicely trippy feel throughout – and titles include "Hascisch Party" by George Garvarenz, "Kiss This" by Claude Denjean, "Acka Raga" by Shocking Blue, "Mas Que Nada" by Luiz Enriquez, "En Melody" by Serge Gainsbourg, "Love For Sale" by Marian McPartland, "Batucada" by Phil Crewe, "Marins Armins Amant Ou Maris" by Michel Legrand, and "Sitar Beat" by Klaus Doldinger. (Funky Compilations, Now Sound) CD
