Nice keyboards and other groovy sounds – with a feel that's very similar to some of Hugo Montenegro's late 60s work on RCA! Also features a very groovy choice of tunes, too – with cuts that include "Theme From Take The Money & Run", "Ice Station Zebra", "Killing Of Sister George", and "For Love Of Ivy". LP, Vinyl record album
These Hellers are pretty darn hip fellers – way more than just singers, talkers, players, swingers, and doers – and also experimentalists with a very groovy approach to their music! At one level, the record's got a dreamy pop feel that's very much in keeping with the album's inclusion on the Command label in the late 60s – but at another level, it's got some playful electronics and spoken word bits that remind us more of the cut-up commentary of Jon Appleton and his Syntonic Menagerie! The album was written by Dick Hamilton and produced by Hugh Heller – and it features a wide number of voices that float in and out of the mix in both spoken and sung passages – including a contributions from McLean Stevenson and Sally Stevens! There's plenty of moog and analogue electronics next to some groovier pop production – and titles include "The Elevator", "It's 74 In San Francisco", "And Now The News", "The Piano Lesson", "Take 46", "The Mist Of Time", "High Fly Ball", "The Mechanic", and "Life Story". (Rock, Now Sound)LP, Vinyl record album
Not his most out there record, but filled with lots of nice little tracks on the Lowrey Organ. Includes a version of "Mack the Knife" that really swings, plus "Big Ben Bossa" and lots of standards, like "I Left My Heart In San Francisco", 'Fly Me To The Moon" and "Satin Doll". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has a small top seam split. Includes Command inner sleeve.)
Enoch Light & The Light Brigade —
Discotheque Vol 2 ... LP Command, Mid 60s. Very Good+ Gatefold ...
Out Of Stock
Some very groovy 60s instrumentals – played by Enoch Light's group with organ, sax, and a tight guitar-driven groove that's almost like the best work by Phil Bodner's Brass Ring. There's a campy groovy sound to most numbers – and titles include "The Jerk", "I Feel Fine", "Goldfinger", "Downtown", "Too Many Fish In The Sea", and "Girl From Ipanema". Cool organ by Dick Hyman! LP, Vinyl record album
One of those unusual chapters in the career of David Axelrod at Capitol Records – a set that has him taking on the production helm for David Rose – an earlier instrumental talent who sounds nicely moody here in the hands of Axe! Titles include themes from "Exodus", "Ben-Hur", "The Bible", "Ten Commandments", "Greatest Story Ever Told", and "Spartacus Love Theme". LP, Vinyl record album
(Rainbow label stereo pressing.)
