✨✧ Mike Hurst OrchestraDrivetime ... CD
Angel Air (UK), 1969. Used ... Out Of Stock
A beautiful little album of sweet late 60s easy – originally recorded by British producer Mike Hurts for Phase 4 at the end of the 60s, but never issued until now! The set has a really warm and glowing sort of groove – one that's a fair bit more dynamic than most of the rest of the Phase 4 sets, with evocative qualities that almost push the record more into the soundtrack side of the spectrum. Hurst's arrangements of the tunes are often quite driving, but never too dramatic – and although the set's an orchestral one, there's a great sense of pacing, timing, and rhythm to all the numbers. Titles include "April Fools", "Cool", "Sound Of Silence", "Wednesday's Child", "Good Vibrations", "Image", "Mission Impossible", and "Theme From The Wild Ones". CD

✨✧ Ruth WhiteShort Circuits ... CD
Angel/Rhythm Productions, Late 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Beautifully crazy moog material from Ruth White – an artist who could sit on both sides of the moogy fence – approaching the instrument with a bit less of the pop styles of her contemporaries, but in ways that are still plenty darn compelling over the years! Most of the work here is of classical origin, but Ruth also adds in some additional electronics that further abstracts the tunes – and titles include "The Ball" by Bizet, "The Snow Is Dancing" by Debussy, "Gymnopedie No 1" by Satie, "The Flight Of The Bumblebee" by Rimsky-Korsakov, and "Anvil Chorus" by Verdi. Most tracks are in shorter, groovier versions! (Out Sound, Now Sound) CD

✨✧ Ken NordineStare With Your Ears ... LP
Snail, 1979. Near Mint- Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
One of Ken Nordine's trippiest albums! This was released on Ken's own Snail Records label in the late 70's, and it's got a very different feel than his classic Word Jazz LPs on Dot. There's still a lot of cool processed vocals, and weird production in which Ken talks with himself in many different voices, but there's also some added instrumentation, and even a few tracks that you could call "songs". The musicians are an odd batch of players from the Chicago scene, including Odell Brown and Manfredo Fest, and Kitty Haywood also sings vocals on some of the album. Titles include "Smelts", "Scratch", "Angel's Lament", "Island", "Mister Blister", and "Cracks In the Ceiling". (Spoken Word, Now Sound) LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing with Diskwerks stamp. Includes the folded lyric insert. Cover has some edge wear.)

✨✧ Hugo MontenegroLoves Of My Life ... CD
RCA (Spain), 1957. Used ... Out Of Stock
Dreamy work from Hugo Montenegro – a string-heavy session that's filled with romantic numbers, yet also recorded with some of the whimsy of his later work! The "loves" of Hugo's life are a host of 40s and 50s standards – done here in a late nite mode with shimmering violins and moody woodwinds – titles that include "Lady Of Spain", "Sleepy Time Gal", "A Beautiful Lady In Blue", "My Old Flame", "Little Girl Blue", "Girl Of My Dreams", and "I Married An Angel".
