A wonderful collection of modern Brazilian grooves lifted from the legendary Far Out label! The set is much more than a regular compilation – as it's now the only place you can get some of the out-of-print singles on the label, plus a few rare mixes that aren't available elsewhere! The groove is nice and smooth, with a good mix of Brazilian roots and modern production, all with the high quality you've come to expect from Far Out. A contemporary record, but one with a really vintage Brazilian vibe – thanks to superb vocals and guitar from Joao Selva, and just the right sort of additional instrumentation and production from Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart! If you know other Patchworks productions, you'll know that Bruno's got a hell of an ear for sounds that are warm and soulful – and while other projects of his might have been more club-oriented, the feel here is in the mode of Brazilian soul from years back – touches of the AOR style of early 80s Marcos Valle, mixed with some of the leaner styles from the 70s as well – all topped with really nice songwriting and vocals from Joao. For the past few years, the UK-based Far Out label has been redefining the sound of Brazilian music. The label's run by DJ Joe Davis – the man who brought the world the Blue Brazil and Brazilica series, and the person who turned the London scene onto Brazilian grooves in a major way. Far Out is a labor of love for Joe, and this compilation offers 15 tracks in proof of that theory! The comp pulls from previous releases on the label, including many that are now long out of print.
