✨✧ Kyoto Jazz MassiveSpirit Of The Sun (Japanese version) ... CD
Compost (Japan), 2002. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An amazing record from Kyoto Jazz Massive – and about time, too! The Japanese collective has been bubbling under for years – doing some of the most groundbreaking production, remix, and single work of the current Japanese scene – and this album is really their first true full-length, a massive set of tracks with a soulful approach we never knew they had! The whole thing's amazing from the word "go" (which actually isn't the first word on the album!) – and the first few tracks are especially strong, all soulful numbers with vocals by guest singers that include Vanessa Freeman, Victor Davies, and Maiya James. After that burst, the album takes off instrumentally – stretching for the sky in a jazz-infused blend of beats and keyboards, occasional other instrumentation creeping into the mix at just the right moments. Titles include "The Dawn Introduction", "The Brightness Of These Days", "Mind Expansions", "Stargazer", "Eclipse", "Between The Lights", "Substream", "Shine", "ME Outroduction", and "Behind The Shadow". Japanese version features one bonus track – "The View From Her Room", with vocals by Bebel Gilberto! CD

✨✧ Kyoto Jazz Massive & OthersRe KJM – Kyoto Jazz Massive 10th Anniversary Tribute Tracks ... CD
Quality (Japan), 2004. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Some of the best of the current Japanese underground – all pulled together to pay tribute to the 10th anniversary of Kyoto Jazz Massive! The set's one of the hippest we've stocked from Japan in years – a near-exclusive batch of tracks that runs like a "who's who" of the left end of the dancefloor spectrum in the eastern scene. As with the music of KJM, many of the artists here are blending together older and newer styles – reaching out into space and sound with a spiritual undercurrent that makes the work stand far far stronger than the usual batch of dancefloor tracks. Titles include "Stargazer" by Breath, "Shine" by Jazztronik, "Eclipse" by Sleepwalker, "A Calmaria (selling into the unknown version)" by Monday, "Deep In Your Mind" by Yukihiro Fukutomi with Ernesto, "Mind Expansions" by Cosmic Village with Chara, "Spireedom 2004" by DJ Mitsu The Beats, "Behind The Shadow" by Toshio Matsuura Group, and "The Brightness Of These Days" by Electric Sheep with UA.
