Great remixes of one track – plus three new versions of tracks from the excellent debut of this London singer! Side one features both Dego and 2000 Black mixes of "Sour Face" – nicely cosmic versions of the tune that link Bryony's current participation in the London scene with some of the deepest modes of the past! And the flipside features live takes on the tunes "Sweet Sweet", "Sun Kissed", and "All About Life" – given this fantastic jazz funk reading, with lots of sweet keyboard lines and percussion next to the lead vocals! ✨✧ Various2000 Black Records Presents The Good Good ... CD
Planet E, 2000. Used ... Out Of Stock
A great collection of modern soulful tunes – pulled together by the 2000 Black label, an imprint which takes its name from the famous Roy Ayers tune of the same name! Choosing Roy as a reference point would be a difficult thing to live up to for most other labels – but the 2000 Black posse do a damn good job of living up to Roy's legacy here, taking the positive spiritualism that infused his classic work, and using it to inform a whole new set of experiments in modern music. Roy's present on a remake of "2000 Black" done with MM Black, and the set is rounded out by 11 more like minded numbers: "Brand New Day" by Pavel Kostiuk, "Future Past" & "Space Junky" by Nubian Mindz, "Into The Now" by Seiji, "Terah" by Nu Era, "Sunnin" by Catalyst, "Groovesome" by Domu, "Nu Way" by Kuni, "Avenues" by Titonton, "Diamondstone" by Somatik and "The Mind" by Da One Way featuring Bembe Segue. Various2000 Black Records Presents The GooD gOOd 2 (Japanese pressing) ... CD
2000 Black (UK), 2002. Used ... $6.99
The soulful side of London – and a really great compilation that's even better than the first volume in the series! The 2000 Black posse present a warm and wonderful batch of tunes – numbers that have their roots in the current broken beat underground, yet which also have a bit more warmth, and more of a focus on classic soulful roots. Titles include "Relax Unwind" by Mark De Clive Lowe, "Smile" by Assassino Daninha, "Music Of The Earth" by Domu, "Let Your Feelings Show" by Restless Soul, "Run (Seiji rmx)" by Micatone, and "Ice" by Opaque. ✨✧ DegoToo Much ... LP
2000 Black (UK), 2019. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A fantastic full length set from Dego – one of the few members of the 4Hero scene who've kept the music flowing and growing into new territory in recent years – especially with the same longform vibe that we always loved from that legendary group! Although short doses of cosmic sound can be great, there's nothing to compare with a full dose like this – a rich musical vision that holds us rapt throughout, as it moves through shifting rhythms and different modes of contemporary soul – thanks in part to vocal guests who include Ivana Santilli, Samii, Lady Alma, Sharlene Hector, and Sarina Leah! A few tracks have bold, long instrumental workouts – blinding keyboards and quick-changing rhythms – and titles include "A Strong Move For Truth", "My Standards Are Not Too High", "A Where Pringle Deh", "Come Of Age", "Just Leave It", "Life Can Be Unreal", "You Are Virgo", "Remini Dream", "I Don't Wanna Know", "Good Morning", and "Unknown Faults". JazztronikRemixes Part 2 ... CD
Tokuma (Japan), 2006. Used ... $14.99
Jazztronik alone are great enough – but this excellent collection really takes them to a whole new level, by letting in collaborative talents on a host of remixes – all of which further expand the groove of Jazztronik's recent Cannibal Rock and En:Code albums! In recent years, Jazztronik have deepened their sound even more than before – working in bright Brazilian and Latin influences to their mix of cosmic and jazzy dancefloor modes, all of which dance together beautifully in this wonderful set of work. The album is way more than just one of those "hey, let's let someone else mess with the originals" sort of projects – as all tunes here really keep the original Jazztronik spirit burning bright, and respect the vibe that first allowed all of this to happen! Titles on this second volume include "Tiger Eyes (Needs rmx)", "Pathways (2 Banks Of 4 bi-polar re-edit)", "Phoenix (Terry's Voice rmx)", "Rio Sol E Mar (2000 Black rmx)", "Listen To Your Love (DJ Mitsu rmx)", "Cannibal Rock (Soil & Pimp sessions rework)", "Beeping (Domu rmx)", "Dentro De Mim (Phil Asher's Restless Soul rmx)", and "Dentro Mi Alma (Reel People rmx album edit)". ✨✧ MuktaDancing On One's Hands ... CD
WEA (France), 2000. Used ... Just Sold Out!
Fantastic Indian funk from one of our favorite new groups! In contrast to the band's jazzy second album Jade, issued right before this one, Dancing On One's Hands is more of a 70s funk outing – with hard grooves that recall the best moment of funky Bollywood soundtracks from the 70s, plus a few mellower numbers that have the jazzy feel of Jade. There's a bit of modern production in the mix, with programming and electronics on a few tracks – but the core instrumentation is still sitar, tampura, vibes, trumpet, flute, and percussion. A wonderful mix of world styles – without any of the "hoke" that you might normally expect from a project like this! Titles include "Black Pearl", "Amarillo", "Looping Morning", "Supernova", "No Pares", and "Haiku". (Global Grooves, New Grooves) CD

✨✧ VariousNight At The Playboy Mansion – Selected & Mixed by Dimitri From Paris ... CD
Yellow/Astralwerks, 2000. Used ... $3.99
An excellent collection of house tracks – old and new – selected and blended by Dimitri From Paris! The overall theme is an imaginary party at the Playboy Mansion – but from our personal experience, we can tell you that this set kicks a lot harder than the dancefloor at Hef's pad ever did! Dimitri takes off from the current ecstatic energy of the Parisian house scene, and the package is a totally stormin mix of 14 tracks that are all uptempo, all soulful, and all filled with the kind of hooks that will keep you on the floor all night long. Tracks include "Found A Cue" by Ashford & Simpson, "I'll Be There For You" by Sunburst Band, "Sweet Music" by Terry Hunter, "Motivation" by Atmosfear, "Outro Lugar" by Salome De Bahia, "Talking All That Jazz (Torti's old school mix)" by Stetsasonic, "Down To Love Town" by The Originals, "The Groove" by Astrojazz, "Reach Inside" by Bah Samba, "Wonderful Person" by Black Masses, and "Give Me Love" by Cerrone. (Funky Compilations, New Grooves) CD
