Georgie AuldDancing In The Land Of HI-FI ... LP
Mercury, 1956. Very Good ... $2.99
Plenty of dancing here – romping rhythms that are a nice change for Georgie Auld, and which make for a perfect foil for his deeper sounds on the tenor! The record's got a bit of Mercury Records rock in the mix – almost a Red Prysock approach at points, mixed with some of the sweeter swing of Georgie's roots – and other players include Ray Linn and Maynard Ferguson on trumpets, and Frank Rosolino on trombone. Titles include "Blue Lou", "I Get A Kick Out Of You", "Rosetta", "Sweet Lorraine", "Prisoners Song", "Got A Date With An Angel", and "Too Marvelous For Words". LP, Vinyl record album
(Drummer logo pressing. Cover has some white sploches due to oxidation under the gloss, light wear and aging, a small sticker spot and a bit of pen on the back.)

Georgie AuldDouble Image ... CD
Ocium (Spain), 1949/1951/1952. Used ... $9.99
Beautiful work from the vastly under-rated Georgie Auld - a tenorist with a sweet tone, but one who could also play with a nice edge when he wanted! The set brings to light work that Auld recorded for the Discovery label in 1949, and the Coral label in the years 1951 and 1952 – featuring a total of 24 tracks, most of which were only ever issued on 78 rpm recordings! The group's are largeish on most of the tracks – 8 to 10 players usually – and a few of the tracks feature Georgie blowing with the Jud Conlon Rhythmaires. Titles include "Nashooma", "Vox Bop", "Settin The Pace", "Room With A View", "Early Autumn", "On The Alamo", "You've Got Me Jumpin", and "Hollywood Bazaar". CD

Jack Van PollHi Jackin' (180 gram gold vinyl pressing) (2022 Record Store Day Drop) ... LP
Decca/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1972. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $29.99
A massive Fender Rhodes set from early 70s Belgium – the kind of set that never shows up on this side of the Atlantic, and which is pretty darn rare in its home territory too! Keyboardist Jack Van Poll has a wonderful sense of space on this set – a way of letting the tunes build simply and gracefully – often with a slow-growing groove that lets the Rhodes roll along wonderfully – never too slow, though, and always with a sweet funky undercurrent! And while we'd never heard of Jack before this set, he's got a great sense of style and imagination on his solos – very open, but always with a soulful undercurrent. The rest of the trio includes Mary Hehuat on Fender bass and Ruud Pronk on drums – and titles include "Marriedyet", "Blue Tait", "A Box For Leslie", "Sweet Georgie Fame", "Passage To Pferov", and "Objizdka". LP, Vinyl record album
(50th Anniversary pressing – limited ediiton of 750 – on heavyweight gold vinyl!)
