A selection of work put together for the well-done documentary on the late, great
Billie Holiday – a record that includes classics from
Billie's vintage recordings, plus a few new tracks recorded for the film by the
Sonhouse All Stars! The
Holiday vocal tracks are the main draw – as you'd expect – and titles include 1939 recordings of "Fine & Mellow" and "Strange Fruit", 1959 recordings of "Just One More Chance" and "I'll Never Smile Again", 1949 recordings of "I Loves You Porgy" and "My Man", and other Verve recordings of "Now Or Never", "God Bless The Child", "Blues Are Brewin", and "Don't Explain". The set also features two tracks by the
Sonhouse combo – "Funeral In New Orleans" and "Hoppin Around" – by a lineup that includes Jo Hermans on trumpet, Jel Jongen on trombone, David Thomaere on piano, Wierse Meys on tenor and clarinet, and Mimi Verderame on drums.
