✨✧ Salaam Remi & OthersBlack On Purpose (3LP red, yellow & green vinyl pressing) ... LP
Louder Than Life, 2021. New Copy 3LP ... Out Of Stock
Salaam Remi's usually a key talent in the background for others – but here, he acts more like the leader in the spotlight – opening the door to a great array of talents, and really finding a way to express a powerful message over the course of the album! Remi's always had a great ear for a classic groove – we first fell in love with him for his James Brown tribute years ago – and here, he mixes classic funk, soul, and Afro-styled elements for contributions from Black Thought, Common, Busta Rhymes, Betty Wright, Bilal, Cee-Lo Green, Super Cat, Stephen Marley, and many others – digging into the past for a bold vision for a positive future. Titles include a great remake of the Syl Johnson classic "Is It Because I'm Black" and James Brown's "Say It Loud" – plus "Comin Outta The Rain", "Really Real Out Here", "Tear It Down", "Live From Soul In The Horn", "Black Progress", "Afrikan Children", "Black Love", and "No Peace". LP, Vinyl record album
(3LP colored vinyl – and limited edition!)

✨✧ Kanye WestCollege Dropout ... LP
Roc-A-Fella, 2004. Near Mint- 2LP ... Just Sold Out!
Kanye West finally dropped the full length in early '04 – and it's one of the best hip hop albums of that year. Kanye is probably the hottest beats producer of the year, too, having dug through the greatest soul hooks of the past few decades for his samples, and piled on the chunkiest, catchiest, thickest beats anywhere. And if he doesn't have the greatest vocal delivery in hop hop (if he did, he'd be Superman considering his production pedigree), he makes up for it with some masterful lines, like "I gotta apologize to Mos and Kweli/is it cool to rap about gold if I told the world I copped it from Ghana and Mali?" from "Breath In Breath Out". Hilariously, Kanye also found just about the sharpest theme for a record that we've scene in a while – the tangential connection between gang bangers and frat boys! He ain't granola, he ain't bling bling, he's just a guy from Chicago with a sometimes astoundingly strong production aesthetic, very smart rhymes and a lot of people who owe him great guest spots, and deliver. Were you looking for more than that? It's a triumph, one that Chicago couldn't be more proud of! "We Don't Care", "Graduation Day", "All Falls Down" with Syleena Johnson, "Spaceship" with GLC & Consequence, "Never Let Me Down" with Jay-Z, "Get 'Em High" with Talib Kweli & Common,"New Work Out Plan", the great single "Slow Jamz" with Twista & Jamie Foxx and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Later pressing with TML stamp. Includes the insert.)

TwistaDay After (Amended Album) ... LP
Atlantic, 2005. Near Mint- 2LP ... $7.99
Twista bangs out another solid LP! It's probably as strong as the breakthrough Kamikaze as a whole – even if it doesn't catch lighting in a bottle as incredibly as the already classic single "Slow Jamz" from the Kamikaze and College Dropout albums. Twista soldiers on with a number of tracks that do approach the R&B sheen of that great number. Tracks include "The Day After" feat Syleena Johnson, "Check That H**", "Lavish" feat Pharrell, "Girl Tonite" feat Trey Songz, "When I Get You Home" feat Pharrell & Jamie Foxx, "So Lonely" feat Mariah Carey, "Had To Call" feat Snoop Dogg & Sleepy Eyed Joe, "I'm A Winner", "Hit The Floor" feat Pitbull and more. LP, Vinyl record album
(Edited promo in an Atlantic sleeve.)
