Salt N Pepa —
Very Necessary ... LP NextPlateau/Mercury, 1993. New Copy 2LP (reissue)...
$32.9936.99
A massive hit and creative triumph for Salt N Pepa – a record that was both maybe their biggest ever, and which had the duo working with Spinderella at a level that also bridged both hip hop and R&B! Although there were some younger up-and-comers on the scene at the time, Salt N Pepa had already honed their craft, matured a bit, and were able to serve up just the right hook-heavy blend of hip hop and a touch of R&B – mixing both freewheeling fun with some feminist positivity and maybe just a touch of social consciousness in all the right ways. Titles include their classics "Whatta Man and "Shoop" – plus "Groove Me", "No One Does It Better", "Step", "Heaven Or Hell", "Big Shot", "Sexy Noises Turn Me On", "Somma Time Man", "I've Got Aids (PSA)", and "Break Of Dawn". LP, Vinyl record album

One of those early hard to find NextPlateau single, before they were distributed by Polygram. Maybe we're off in our geography, MC Sugar Ray sounds almost like a Brooklyn version of Big Daddy Kane. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo in a stickered Next Plateau sleeve, with light wear. Labels have an ink stamp.)
Featuring some of Hurby Luv Bug's best production work on "I'll Take Your Man", "My Mike Sounds Nice", "Tramp", "It's Alright". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original pressing with Trutone stamp. Cover has a large corner cut, heavy edge wear, bent corners, and some marker and index label in back. Labels have some marker and ink stamps.)
Salt N Pepa still in their best early mode – working with Hurby Luv Bug, and turning out tunes with a nice sort of indie-level street charm! Although countless others copped the poppy hip hop groove of the pair at the time, Salt N Pepa were still the first, and still managed to do it best – striking a nice balance between girlish themes and some of the harder-edge hip hop of the Luv Bug posse. Tracks include "Spinderella's Not A Fella", "I Like It Like That", "Let The Rhythm Run (remix)", "Shake Your Thing" featuring E.U., "Hyped On The Mic", "I Gotcha", "Get Up Everybody", and more .
