CommonCan I Borrow A Dollar? (180 gram transparent vinyl) ... LP
Relativity/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1992. New Copy (reissue)... $22.99
Common's full length debut! This one's a little more uptempo and overall less serious than "Resurrection", and a few cuts that are as good as anything on that LP – Common went on to a pretty diverse career, and this is the blueprint material for his most respected records. Production by Twilight Tone, Immenslope, and the Beatnuts. Includes "Penny For My Thoughts", "Soul by the Pound", "Take It Eazy", "Breaker 1/9", "Two Scoops of Raisins", "Tricks Up My Sleeve", Blows To The Temple" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

Das EfxHold It Down (180 gram colored vinyl pressing) ... LP
East West/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1995. New Copy 2LP (reissue)... $32.99 38.99
Das EFX's third album finds them holding down a more jam-packed approach than ever before – longer by half than their previous LPs and with a strong sense of purpose! Das EFX appeared with such a unique rhyme style, by this point they really needed to balance the tasks of being recognizable as as the hard-hitting duo with the distinctive approach to rhymes, without relying on it as a gimmick, and here they largely succeed – with production from Premier, Showbiz, Easy Mo Bee, Klark Kent, DJ Scratch and more. Tracks include "No Diggedy", "Represent The Real" with KRS, "Microphone Master", "Hold It Down", "Bad News" with PMD, "Real Hip Hop", "40 & A Blunt", "Ready To Rock Rough Rhymes", and lots more! Das EfxStraight Up Sewaside (180 gram colored vinyl pressing) ... LP
East West/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1993. New Copy (reissue)... $24.99 28.99
The somewhat slept on second album by Das Efx – and in hindsight, it's just as solid as Dead Serious – maybe even more consistently strong than the breakout debut! Dray and Skoob keep up the loco syllabic tempo and tongue tripping rhymes on this one – over the head nodding Solid Scheme beats that sound great to this day – but wisely put the focus on the rhyme craft rather than going overboard with the manic style. You've heard us an just about anyone else with an opinion about hip hop history go on and on about the golden years of the early 90s, and this rock solid effort deserves as much acclaim as many of the better remembered records of the day. With the tracks "Baknaffek", "Wontu", "Check It Out", "Undaground Rappa", "Gimme Dat Micraphone", "It'z Lik Dat", "Host Wit Da Most", "Rappaz", and "Freakit". LP, Vinyl record album
(Individually numbered limited edition pressing of 1000.)

Ghostface KillahGhostface Killahs ... LP
Music Generation Corp, 2019. New Copy ... $14.99 24.98
Ghostface in his raw and direct mode once again, sounding pretty great after a string of collaborative and more theme oriented efforts – definitely more in the vein of his work around Supreme Clientele and Fishscale that more recent records in which he shared billing with producers and players like Adrian Younge and Badbadnotgood. Nothing fancy, just rock solid raw hip hop with sharp dart rhymes by a legend – with appearances by Method Man & Cappadonna, Sun God & Shawn Wigs, Eamon, Solomon Childs & Inspectah Deck. Titles include "Me Denny & Darryl", "Burner To Burner", "Flex", "Conditioning", "Fly Everything", "New World", "The Chace" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

Inspectah DeckChamber No 9 ... LP
Music Generation Corp, 2019. New Copy ... $13.99 24.98
Wu Tang stalwart Inspectah Deck back in the Shaolin style on Chamber No 9 – complete with Asian action cinema soundbites, an ODB tribute track, and the flying guillotine on the cover – and whether you want to chalk it up to nostalgia or not, it's pretty nice to hear him revisiting his roots! Deck's always been one of the Wu's underrated figures, but he's been one of the most consistently solid over the years, too – be it on the all too rare solo albums or with his latter day group Czarface. This one is a straight up Wu Tang offshoot, and titles include "Shaolin Rebel", "Russell Jones", "Chamber No 9", "Certified", "24K" with Hellfire & Cappadonna, "Game Don't Change", "Who Run It" feat Hellfire & Streetlife and more. 12 tracks and no filler. ✨✧ Abstract OrchestraDilla ... LP
ATA (UK), 2017. New Copy ... $23.99 24.99
There's nothing abstract here – as the set's a fantastically-focused tribute to the late Jay Dee – put together in a style that's mostly jazz, but which also has some great vocal touches too! The music's roots are in hip hop, but the presentation here is awash in strong work on saxes, trumpet, and trombone – used over rhythms that are played live, and which have this warm glow that's like 70s jazz funk, filtered through the hop hop generation! Emphasis is on horn solos, but the set also features twin female singers – who provide some chorus vocals, and a warm link between the instrumental modes in a really great way. So maybe consider this both a soul and a jazz remake of the world of Dilla – and a great one too. Titles include "Welcome To Detroit/The Diary", "Dilla Mix 1", "Official/Fall In Love", "Love", "Angel"," King", "Two Can Win", "Raw Sh*t", "Workinonit", and "Stop". ✨✧ Abstract OrchestraMadvillain Vol 2 (with bonus download) ... LP
ATA (UK), 2019. New Copy ... $23.99
A really great take on the music of Madvillain – that famous collaboration between Madlib & MF Doom – served up here in a mostly instrumental mode that's heavy on funk and jazz! You'll definitely recognize the tunes in the set, but the presentation is very different – almost as if someone's gone back to the music, stripped it down to core samples, then worked those back up again with a new sort of energy! The group's directed by Rob Mitchell – clearly the genius behind the whole project – and solos are by James Russell on tenor and flute, Simon Bobby Beddoe on trumpet, Jim Corry on alto, and George Cooper on piano and keyboards. Titles include "Meat Grinder", "Eye", "Figaro", "Can't Reform Em", "Madmix 3", "Rainbows", "Fire In The Hole", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Operation Lifesaver", and "Borrowed Time". Anderson PaakOxnard (with bonus tracks) ... LP
12T/Aftermath, 2018. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $31.99
Cinematic hip hop soul from Anderson.Paak named after a seaside city west of Los Angeles, CA – but it's not Malibu, it's the stunning follow up Oxnard – a little looser, more diverse, and ultimately just as impressive set from this still rising talent! The uber-impressive guest list including Kadhja Bonet, Norelle, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop, Dre, Pusha T, J Cole, Q-Tip and more but this is the sprawling Anderson.Paak show all the way, his distinctive blend of Cali sunshine and nighttime music and mood, his gritty-smooth voice so masterfully going back & forth from singing to rhyming, the production breathtaking from the stripped down beats, bass and vocals focused tracks to grander and more densely layered material. Includes "The Chase" with Kadja Bonet, "Headlow" feat Lowrell, "Tints" feat Kendrick Lamar, "Who R U", "6 Summers", "Saviers Road", "Smile/Petty", "Mansa Musa", "Brothers Keeper" feat Pusha T, "Anywhere" feat Snoop Dogg & Last Artful Dodgr, "Trippy" feat J Cole and "Cheers" feat Q-Tip – plus the bonus tracks "Sweet Chick" feat BJ The Chicago Kid and "Left To Right". Black Eyed PeasEND ... LP
Interscope, 2009. New Copy 2LP ... $15.99 27.99
The best of the post-Elephunk mainstream conquering era records by the Black Eyed Peas – comfortably balancing bright dance pop and hip hop as strongly as ever! The career arc of the BEPs is as unlikely as anything in modern popular music, from the indie soul inspired alternative rap early on to the fun mainstream figureheads at this point, and this is probably their peak on the side of it. Includes "Boom Boom Pow", "Rock That Body", "Meet Me Halfway", "Imma Be", "I Gotta Feeling", "Missing You", "Ring-A-Ling", "Party All The Time", "Now Generation", "One Tribe", "Rockin' To The Beat" and more. Cash Money & MarvelousWhere's The Party At? (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Sleeping Bag/Demon (UK), 1988. New Copy (reissue)... $14.99
Maybe the crowning achievement of DJ Cash Money – a sharp DJ from the early Philly scene – and a talent who was every bit as great at the time on as Jazzy Jeff on the wheels of steel! Cash is paired here with Marvelous, an MC whose sense of wit really matches the sharpness of the production on the record – and the album's a classic from a time when the indie underground was starting to burst out again with strong full length albums like this! There's plenty of deft, playful rhymes on the set – and titles include "Find An Ugly Woman", "Play It Kool", "Is It Real", "Time Is Up", "A Real Mutha For Ya", "Marvelous' Drawers", "Ugly People Be Quiet (rmx)", "Ugly People Be Quiet", "The Mighty Hard Rocker", and "The Music Maker". ✨✧ ClipseLord Willin' ... LP
Star Trak/Arista, 2002. Near Mint- 2LP ... $14.99
A neo-electro/drug rap/crossover hip hop classic produced by the Neptunes, and the debut LP on their own Star Trak label. Malice and Pusha T are smooth, confident rhymers with some stand-out moments, but the Neptunes are driving this train, much in the way Prince Paul commandeered early De La Soul productions. Like Paul, The Neptunes' fingerprints are evident on just about every second of every track, but it doesn't diminish the role of the rappers in the least. This is a true hip hop record from beginning to end, something the 'Tunes had shied away from around the same time with the hard rockin' NERD. Their production style saturated pop music at the time, but this may be the Neptunes first album-length masterpiece. Tracks include "Young Boy", "Ma, I Don't Love Her" featuring Faith Evans, "Ego", "Comedy Central" featuring Fabulous, "Gangsta Lean", "Let's Talk About It" featuring Jermaine Dupri, and more. Includes exclusive "Grindin'" remixes. LP, Vinyl record album
(Edited promo in a Star Trak sleeve. Label on Side D has a streak of red marker.)
