DOCNo One Can Do It Better ... CD

The classic album by the DOC from the glory days of Ruthless Records – really up there in excellence with NWA in the gritty west coast canon – with timeless production by Dr. Dre! Nice mic skills paired with tight, funky production from Dre when he still hungry and on the ascent. 13 tracks including "The Formula", "It's Funky Enough", "Mind Blowin", "Lend Me An Ear", "Portrait Of A Master Piece", "Whirlwind Pyramid", "No One Can Do It Better", "The DOC & The Doctor" and "The Grand Finale" featuring Ren and Ice Cube. ✨✧ Little BrotherMinstrel Show Instrumentals ... LP
Atlantic/ABB, 2005. Near Mint- 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Little Brother transitions to the majors with their soulful underground sound intact – and deliver an effort that in the best moments improve upon the already classic Listening LP! It looks like this just isn't going to go over with the TRL crowd, despite the Atlantic logo. The soul sample vibe in general has seeped back onto the pop charts thanks to Kanye, but the prolific 9th Wonder's brand is of a much grittier stock. Honestly, as ubiquitous as 9th's production presence continues to be, there's still really no one else out there like Little Brother – which is another reason to celebrate. Like the golden era work by the prime movers of the Native Tongues, the Wu, and Organized Noize collectives, LB's sound is an instantly identifiable, singular signature that you just can't bite. Don't expect to hear a better full length hip hop album on a major label in '05. Tracks include instrumental versions of "Beautiful Morning", "The Becoming", "Not Enough", "Slow It Down" and "All For You" feat Darien Brockington, "Cheatin'", "Lovin It" feat Joe Scudda, "Watch Me", "Sincerely Yours", "Still Lives Through", "We Got Now" feat Chaundon and more! LP, Vinyl record album
(Promo in an Atlantic sleeve.)

✨✧ Method ManRiddler (LP, LP inst, hide-out rmx, hide-out rmx inst) ... 12-inch
Atlantic, 1995. Very Good (pic cover)... Just Sold Out!
The track that saved Batman Forever from total ruin. We'll be the first to admit that some of the Wu soundtrack cuts are not always up to par, but this one is an exception. Somehow, Method Man and RZA let one of their better tracks go for the soundtrack, that never appeared on any other LP. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has lightly bent corners.)

Little BrotherChittlin Circuit 1.5 – Unreleased Tracks, B-Sides & Remixes ... CD
Fastlife, 2005. Used ... $8.99
A tasty helping of material from Justus League flagship Little Brother – who lit the underground ablaze a couple years ago with their debut on ABB – and hope to do the same in '05 when the Minstrel Show drops on Atlantic! Chitlin Circuit features unreleased tracks, remixes and b-sides – largely produced by 9th Wonder (natch) and Khrysis, with some guest turns by Nicolay and Young Guru. There's some damn strong s**t here – featuring the crew's signature soulful and string-laden funk production – with the tougher wordplay they've been rockin' in the couple of years since The Listening! 18 tracks in all: "War", "Third Party" feat Joe Scudda, "Honorable" feat Chaundon, "Yo-Yo (rmx)", "Nighttime Maneuvers" (rmx), "Altitudes", "Welcome To Durham" featuring Big Daddy Kane, "Flash And Flare" feat LEGACY, "Take It There", "The Beginning" feat Yahzarah and more! Queen LatifahDana Owens Album ... CD
Flavor Unit/Creative Battery, 2004. Used ... $4.99
The Queen sings – and she sounds pretty darn great! Of course, the album's not the first time we've heard Latifah vocalize – since she's been warming her pipes in film and TV appearances for years. But the set does mark her first full album as a vocalist, not a hip hopper – and we've got to say that she comes off pretty darn well! The style of the recording's got a nice classic feel – not torchy, but more in a mellow 70s soul mode, with production on the best numbers by Arif Mardin, of Atlantic Records fame. Titles include "Baby Get Lost", "Simply Beautiful", "The Same Love That Made Me Laugh", "Close Your Eyes", "California Dreamin", and "Hard Times". (Soul, Hip Hop) CD
