Underground soul that goes deeper than most – a collection of some of the hippest tracks from the excellent Groove Diggers reissue series from Japan – a treasure trove of under-discovered indie soul albums from the American scene of the 70s! These tracks are funky, but aren't straight funk overall – and they're often upbeat, but aren't the usual disco and club rarities – instead, they're tight tracks by groups working deep in the underground, but who really know how to craft a great tune – the sort of music you might normally hear from bigger names like Curtis Mayfield or Roy Ayers, but much more obscure overall, given the limited, often local release of the original albums. Some tracks have been favorites in the rare groove scene for years, others are much lesser-known – and the CD features 17 tracks that include "It Ain't Fair" by Tomorrow's People, "I Was Born To Love You" by Timeless Legend", "Anything" by Touch Of Class, "Twenty Four Hours A Day" by Messengers Incorporated, "My Girl Friday" by Lil Albert, "Everything I Want I See In You" by JR Bailey, "All I've Got To Give" by Lemuria, "In My Life" by Matthew Larkin Cassell, "If We Took The Time" by Ted Coleman, "Let's Get It Back Together" by Piranha, "Nothing Can Stop My Loving You" by 1619 Badass Band, "You Can't Turn Me Away" by
Sylvia Striplin, "Why Don't We Fall In Love" by John Valenti, "Phalene" by Placebo, and "Here I Go" by Harris & Orr.
