✨✧ VariousDisco Funk (with bonus tracks) ... CD
RCA/Playback, 1975. Used ... Out Of Stock
Way more funk than disco – and a set that really shows the grittier groove that was going down in the clubs in the years before Studio 54! Think of this one more as in the mode of funky 45s from the mid 70s – as the album's a compilation of groups we've mostly never heard of – like Hudson County, The People, TCB, The Third Time Around, and Brothers Soul, plus a few very early tracks from Con-Funk-Shun – a wonderful blend of funky numbers that has about 80% of the funk promised in the title, and only 20% of the disco! Many numbers are instrumental, often with great effects on the bass, keyboards, or production – and although there was clearly a bit more money spent in the studio than on your usual funky 45 outing, the groove is still very much the same. Titles include the in-demand "Bim Sala Bim" by Hudson Country, "Cookies" by Brother Soul, "Rice & Beans" by Madeira, "Don't Boom Boom" by Lilian Hale, "Party Is A Groovy Thing" by The People, "Bumpsombody" by Con Funk Shun, "Get It Up" by TCB, and "Soon Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" by The Third Time Around. CD includes a few bonus tracks – "What About Love" by Marboo, "Tommy's Groove" by The Gap Band, "Lady Lady Lady" by Boogie Man Orchestra, and "Stay With Me" by Tasha Thomas. CD
