VariousEccentric Soul – The Prix Label ... LP
Numero, Early 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold ... $16.99 21.99
A glorious batch of unearthed soul and funk from the early 70s central Ohio scene – the storming singles of Prix label – culled from ultra rare 45s plus previous unreleased gems! Prix was the imprint started to release work captured at Columbus's Harmonic Sounds studios commercially – pummeling funk, uptempo harmony soul, some heavy organ groovers and beyond – work by the Royal Esquires, Eddie Ray, Joe King, Marion Black and others. Most of the tracks were cut in the first few years of the 70s – at a time when when central Ohio was producing soul and funk as mighty as the bigger midwestern cities of Detroit, Memphis and Chicago – standing just as tall even if it didn't get over as well in the marketplace! Some tracks were issued as Prix 45s in the early 70s, and others were never officially released – culled from finished masters, demos and other studio material that was only recently discovered! Titles include "Wait A Minute", "You Got Me" and more by Eddie Ray, "Mystic" and "Mister Kidneys" by OFS Unlimited, "Speak On Up" and "Your My Everything" by Joe King, "Ain't Gonna Run" by Royal Esquires, "Listen Black Brother" by Marion Black, "Melon Jelly" by Soul Ensemble, "I'm Gonna Gitcha" by Chip Willis & Double Exposure and more. LP has 2 bonus cuts – 21 tracks in all! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousNight At The Playboy Mansion – Selected & Mixed by Dimitri From Paris ... CD
Yellow/Astralwerks, 2000. Used ... $3.99
An excellent collection of house tracks – old and new – selected and blended by Dimitri From Paris! The overall theme is an imaginary party at the Playboy Mansion – but from our personal experience, we can tell you that this set kicks a lot harder than the dancefloor at Hef's pad ever did! Dimitri takes off from the current ecstatic energy of the Parisian house scene, and the package is a totally stormin mix of 14 tracks that are all uptempo, all soulful, and all filled with the kind of hooks that will keep you on the floor all night long. Tracks include "Found A Cue" by Ashford & Simpson, "I'll Be There For You" by Sunburst Band, "Sweet Music" by Terry Hunter, "Motivation" by Atmosfear, "Outro Lugar" by Salome De Bahia, "Talking All That Jazz (Torti's old school mix)" by Stetsasonic, "Down To Love Town" by The Originals, "The Groove" by Astrojazz, "Reach Inside" by Bah Samba, "Wonderful Person" by Black Masses, and "Give Me Love" by Cerrone. ✨✧ VariousMad Styles & Crazy Visions Vol 2 – A Journey Into Electronic, Soulful, Afro & Latino Rhythms ... CD
BBE (UK), Late 2000s. New Copy 2CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
DJ Louie Vega returns to his Mad Styles & Crazy Visions project for BBE after about a decade – following up that stellar first volume of modern dancefloor stormers with a great batch of diverse club jams from the more recent past! Vol 1 covered the 90s and Vol 2, appropriately, takes a solid look at the 00s, with great tracks by Peven Everett, Paul Deep, Boddi Satva, Black Coffee, Papo Sanchez and more. Classic house and more contemporary influences of the most timeless sort, plus bits of Latin and African rhythms and percussion, some soulful vocals, and hypnotically soulful dancefloor grooves abound. 2CD version is deftly mixed by Louie Vega: "Plastic People (Adam Rios Mix)" by Anane, "Burning Hot (Timmy Regisford & Adam Rios Remix)" by Peven Everett, "Who Am I" feat Athenai & C Robert Walker (c2 Version Mix)" by Boddhi Satva, "I Love The Night" by Rocco & C Robert Walker, "Your Body (Dance Ritual Dub)" by Josh Milan, "Imoto" by Professor feat Character, "Guaganco (Terry Hunter Remix)" by Papo Sanchets, "We Are One (Louie Vega EOL Mix)" by Black Coffee feat Hugh Maseleka and more.
