2 of Timmy's best early cuts, together on one original 45! "Why Can't We Live Together" is a breathtakingly sad and eerie song – spare electric drumbeats, moody keyboards, and one of the greatest mellow soul lyrics ever! "Funky Me" isn't that funky – but is still Timmy at his best, which is pretty darn great! 7-inch, Vinyl record
"Give It Up Or Turnit Loose" is far and away one of the best James Brown singles of all times! The bassline on the intro is amazing – one of those moments where you sit up and go "DANG! That sound is incredible!" – good reason why the cut's been sampled countless times over the years! But the whole thing is great too – with tight, sharp, shouted vocals by James – and some razor-sharp work by the rest of the band . The flipside's a nice rare instrumental! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Incredible stuff – simply incredible! If you ever needed a reason why Lamont Dozier on ABC is such a good thing, check out this single – as both sides are fantastic – the kind of slow burning, full grooving, anthemic soul that Lamont forged best while at his time for the label. Arrangements are by HB Barnum and McKinley Jackson – and the sound is near-perfect on both cuts! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A whole different side of this Chicago soul special agent! "Too Many Memories" has Mamie working with Willie Henderson – singing sad, but soulfully, over a stomping groove that's laid out with bass, drum, and this nice kind of snapping percussion. A well-paced dancefloor track – and backed with the deep deep soul ballad "Have Faith In Me". What a great singer! Why didn't she ever cut a full LP? 7-inch, Vinyl record
