✨✧ Roy AyersCoffy – Coffy Is The Color/Aragon/Brawling Broads/Exotic Dance (2 x 7" single set) ... 7-inch
Polydor/Dynamite Cuts (UK), 1973. New Copy 2 x 7 inch set (pic cover, reissue)... Out Of Stock
A totally cool little record – a double 7" single that brings together 4 of the best tracks from the Coffy soundtrack of the 70s – that fantastic blacksplitation film that was Roy Ayers' entry into the genre! All the tracks are great – from the catchy funky soul of the theme, "Coffy Is The Color" – to the tight instrumentation of "Aragon", "Brawling Broads", and "Exotic Dance" – some of the funkiest numbers on the record. 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Roy AyersLook At Me/Mystery Of Love (2019 Japan Record Day release) ... 7-inch
Polydor/Universal (Japan), 1977. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... Out Of Stock
A rare gem for Roy Ayers completists – a Japanese single that features two rare tracks from the late 70s – neither of which were issued on any of Roy's Polydor albums! Both tracks are wonderful – prime material from the legend at his best – presented in a very cool, unusual Japanese pic sleeve too! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Limited pressing – for Japan Record Day 2019!)

James BrownI'm A Greedy Man (part 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Polydor, Mid 70s. Very Good ... $2.99
Funky! This oft-overlooked funky number features James shouting "pick up on this" a few times at the beginning – no instrumentation, just shouted vocals, in a great way that's excellent for dropping into a mix! The groove is in that bouncy style he was using in the 75/76 years, kind of like a rubber band grooving again and again! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ James BrownThere It Is (part 1) (double a-side promo) ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1972. Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An oft-forgotten funky classic from James! The track's a monster – with this wah-wah beat that's flanged all over the place, yet is still as tight as a pair of pants with a 26 inch waist! The groove is prime JBs early 70s – and James is shoutin and callin the groove over the top! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Green label promo. Vinyl plays with some crackles. Labels have a name in pen.)

James Brown Soul TrainHonky Tonk (parts 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1972. Very Good ... $4.99
An old track – redone as a funky 70s killer from James Brown! The track starts out in a JBs party mode – with some dialogue before the band starts playing, then hitting a "Funky Good Time" groove. Over the top, you'll get some hard raw guitar soloing – very much in the classic mode from the Bill Doggett original – and the "part 2" features some great sax work, probably from Maceo! Originally issued only on single, before appearing on a greatest hits LP. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Label has initials in pen.)

Crystal ClearStay With Me/You're So Unclear (2019 Japan Record Day release) ... 7-inch
Polydor/Universal (Japan), 1980. New Copy (pic cover, reissue)... $22.99
A fantastic bit of modern soul – a rare Polydor single from the start of the 80s – but one that we'd put next to some of our favorite mellow soul groovers from the decade before! "Stay With Me" has a vibe that's almost Roy Ayers – midtempo, and funky stepping – a nice edge in the groove, but not too much – with female vocals that cascade beautifully over the lyrics! "You're So Unclear" is even cooler – a slower number, but with a deeper groove – and both tracks have fantastic handling by arranger Morris Bailey! 7-inch, Vinyl record
