✨✧ Sweet MusicI Get Lifted (vocal, inst) ... 7-inch
Wand, 1976. Near Mint- ... $5.99
A great little track – one that's best known as something of a Miami soul hit, thanks to versions by KC & The Sunshine Band and George McCrae. This version's equally great – but done quite differently, as an east coast type club track – lots of strings soaring over the groove, ruff female vocals singing the lead, and a moogy solo on the instrumental version that has a nice P&P feel! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Stan GetzBig Band Bossa Nova (jukebox EP) ... 7-inch
Verve, 1962. Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
An overlooked gem from the Verve bossa years – a session that features the sweet tenor sax work of Stan Getz, alongside some swinging bossa arrangements from the great Gary McFarland! Given the strength of Gary's own work for Verve at the time, it's no surprise that he's a perfect accompanist for Getz on the session – working with just the right amount of space to let Stan stand out from the pack, and really creating a great blend of Brazilian rhythms and some of the modder 60s styles at Verve. Gary contributed a number of originals to the session too – and the three titles are "Manlancolico", "Balanco No Samba", and "Manha De Carnival". 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Cover has light wear & aging.)

✨✧ CapitolsCool Jerk/Hello Stranger ... 7-inch
Karen, 1966. Good ... Out Of Stock
One of the hardest soul hits of the 60s! The cut's got a rolling piano and bass groove that's simply sublime – made even better because the horns didn't show up for the session, so the vocals and piano carry all the grooves, making the track work harder than most of its contemporaries from the time! "Hello Stranger" is the group's version of Barbara Lewis' hit – originally produced by Ollie McLaughlin, who's working with the boys here, and done in a very different style than Barbara's version! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Blue label pressing with horizontal lines. Labels have light ring wear.)

✨✧ Brenda & The TabulationsRight On The Tip Of My Tongue/Always & Forever ... 7-inch
Top & Bottom, Early 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
Genius, pure genius – and the kind of female soul tune we'll never tire of! From the first note, the track oozes sadness – really blue in its approach, setting the scene perfectly for Brenda's great interpretation of Van McCoy's lyric. The hook's incredible – the kind that would grab you even coming out of the muddiest AM radio! The flip's nice too – a bit more upbeat, but with a similar approach. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Labels have light wear.)
