DevonnsCome Back/Think I'm Falling In Love ... 7-inch
Record Kicks (Italy), 2018. Near Mint- ... $5.99
Contemporary soul from a Chicago group – but one who work in this style that's nicely down to earth, and which maybe has a bit of the group feel of the 70s! "Come Back" has a brightness to the music that's a nice contrast to the bluer tone of the lyrics – and "Think I'm Falling In Love" has this gentle groove that's gently peppered with horns, but mostly has the lead vocals crackling away lightly on the lovely lyric! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Kansas City ExpressThis Is The Place (voc, inst) ... 7-inch
Ocean Of Tears/Athens Of The North (UK), Early 70s. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A rare sweet soul single from Kansas City Express! The group was actually based closer to Springfield, MO than KC – but they have a sound that would do any midwest scene plenty proudly! "This Is The Place" has a laidback, but rich sound – with lovely female lead vocals and strong group back up – with a tight backbone of bass and drums, a sweetly soulful guitar groove and some nice piano, sax and trumpet in the mix. It's killer tune – and even if it's the group's only recorded legacy, it's still a great one! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Monday MichiruYou Are The Universe (7 inch version)/Ooh La La La ... 7-inch
Grand Gallery, 2017. New Copy (pic cover)... Out Of Stock
A very limited 7" single by the lovely Monday Michiru – only done for the Japanese market! "You Are The Universe" is a beautifully soulful song – a cover of a tune by Siedah Garrett, but done in a way that's soaring and spiritual, and very much the kind of sound that made us first fall in love with Monday's music many years back! The tune beautifully mixes jazz and house, and is made even better by the lead vocal – and it's backed by a cool take on Teena Marie's "Ooh La La La" – again done at a level that makes the tune Monday's own! 7-inch, Vinyl record

VisitorsUntil You Came Along/I'm In Danger ... 7-inch
Dakar, Late 60s. Good+ ... $9.99
2 sides of killer group soul from Chicago – by a group we'd never heard before! "Until You Came Along" is a really great ballad – slow and lovely, with a rough late-nite feel that's almost doo-woppy, but done in a mode that's a bit more 60s. "I'm In Danger" is more upbeat, in that skipping Okeh soul group mode – with soaring vocals that break over the top in a wonderful way! William Sanders arranged, and Eugene Record produced. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Plays with some pops and crackles.)
