Excellent soul from one of the lesser-known groups on the Chicago scene! "I'm A Good Guy" is a rollicking uptempo harmony number, in the best tradition of the group work on the One-Der-Ful labels. "Pretty Baby" is even better – with a stepping style that's nicely similar to "Elephant Walk", and with some harmony vocals that are raw and over the top! 7-inch, Vinyl record
One of Kid Creole's greatest – a track that bounces along with a mad bassline, grooving in a campy 20's sort of way, but with this old school beat that really makes the cut kick. Plus a nice remix of In The Jungle and 2 live tracks round out this double 7 inch set. 7-inch, Vinyl record
Incredible work from The Dramatics! "Devil Is Dope" is this amazing slow funky track about a guy who goes to Hell – and it begins with this hard rumbling bass, and some great sound effects of flames buring the guy! "Hey You" is fantastic, too – and shows the group at their pure harmony best! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two lesser known tracks from Booker T – but both nice! "Slim Jenkins" has kind of a slight western tinge on the guitar – stepping around a saloon floor with the kind of edgey approach you'd expect from a guy named "Slim"! "Groovin" is a nice instrumental take on the big crossover hit – done with easily sliding organ and guitar that kind of hint at the later Melting Pot years! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A rare gem on the tiny Shiptown label – issued here in a very cool pic sleeve for the very first time! "Just A Sad Xmas" is a beautifully slow-burning bit of soul – plenty of organ next to the heartbreaking vocals – as the tune steps along nicely, the builds up as things soar over the top – with a depth that almost feels like classic Stax Records! "Can't Nobody" is very Stax-like too – but more upbeat and joyous – almost like the guy on the main cut found a new lover for the flipside! (Holiday Music, Funky 45's)7-inch, Vinyl record
