$11.9916.99
Some of the earliest work ever issued by the great Georgie Fame – a 4-track EP that features all instrumental tracks with Georgie on the Hammond – serving up a unique groove that really spoke to the changing London scene of the time! The rhythms here are part of the package, and definitely echo some of the new immigrants and their styles arriving in West London – while Fame's solos on organ also show plenty of influence from American players too, both in the jazz and soul instrumental modes! Titles include "Rik's Tune", "JA Blues", "Orange Street", and "Stop Right Here". 7-inch, Vinyl record
Two wonderful cuts from David Bowie's Philly soul period! "Fame" is his classic collaboration with John Lennon – a tune with very wry lyrics, and a wonderfully funky groove too – one you'll recognize right away! "Right" is one that we love even more – a subtle bit of genius from that time when Bowie was recording at Sigma Sound with Luther Vandross – full of soul, and a surprisingly new deep side of his sound! (Rock, Funky 45's)7-inch, Vinyl record
A pivotal single in the development of southern soul! Jimmy was one of the first great discoveries of the legendary Rick Hall, and "Steal Away" is an undisputed classic that put Hughes and Hall on the map! The track has incredible vocals, lifted a bit from Solomon Burke, but also with a raspy southern style that had yet to be exploited fully by 60s singers. Great stuff! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Red label pressing. Labels have a marker streak.)
"Boogie Nights" will forever be the lasting fame of Heatwave – a monster crossover club track, huge on the charts, huge in the crates, and sounding mighty nice on this early 7" single! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A classic groover from EWF – lifted from their classic mid 70s years, polished to be sure, but still tight, jazzy, and very soulful! 7-inch, Vinyl record
A monster! "I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You" has had big fame in recent years, but the cut's always been one of Leon Haywood's greatest – a slow, sly, slinky funky number that really never gets old! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(In a 20th Century sleeve with a wrinkled corner.)
