The 7" single debut of two tracks from these Oakland underground legends! The Action Packed Gangsters deliver a nice lean groove for "Takin It To The Streets" – a mix of skittish beats and spare bassline that really serves things well lyrically, and which almost has an early Philly hip hop vibe! "Daily Routine" has that classic "Think" groove kicked up more, which does plenty for the lyrical power of the tune too! Both cuts great – and well-deserving of this treatment. Two rare KPM sound library grooves – back to back on a single piece of wax! "Name Of The Game" is fantastic – slow funk, but super-heavy – with measured drums that space things out as keyboards really take their time to build up the mood, before serving up a mighty sweet solo in the middle! The drums break nicely by their own at one point too – and "Confunktion" has a similar slow funk start, then really builds with frenetic energy on the drums – almost a proggish take on funk at times! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Classic soul from Chicago! The 300-pound Baby Huey was one of the city's premier party acts in the old days, and this single – his cover of the rollicking Curtis Mayfield tune (which was later done by Chicago soul descendents Earth, Wind & Fire) – is one of his best! The two-part track has a rolling party funk groove, with production by Curtis, and arrangements by Donny Hathaway! 7-inch, Vinyl record
Some of the rarest material ever recorded from this legendary Italian maestro – and some of the funkiest too – tracks that all originally appeared in erotic films of the late 70s, and which definitely represent a more secret side of his career! You might know Alessandroni for his key contributions to 60s soundtracks, or his early 70s sound library work – and here, he delivers goods that definitely live up to the legacy of that music too – cuts that appear here on record for the first time ever, and which are even groovier away from the sexy images on the screen! Each single features tracks from a single film – the softcore movies L'Adolescente, Frittata All'Italiana, Le Pornoschiave Del Vizio, Emanuelle A Tahiti, and Uomo Uomo Uomo. 7-inch, Vinyl record
A great return to form for the legendary Sidney Barnes – known best as a onetime member of both Rotary Connection and the P-Funk universe – but working here with great small combo backing from the Speedometer combo! "Best Thing" is an original by Barnes – sung in this sweet raspy style that gets great support from the funky group – who even thrown in a sweet Hammond solo in the middle! The flipside is a remake of Nolan Porter's "If I Could Only Be Sure" – a midtempo burner that has Sidney sounding even better on vocals! 7-inch, Vinyl record
