✨✧ SpeedometerShakedown ... CD
Freestyle (UK), 2010. Used ... Out Of Stock
Long-running UK funk & soul combo Speedometer – still flooring it the The Shakedown – and bring it with a wider scope than ever before! The group has more vocal numbers in the set, and why wouldn't they when they have the lovely and soulful Rita Currie and guests of the caliber of funky diva/James Brown collaborator Martha High! The range of instrumental styles has been broadened, too. You've got your horn-heavy funky soul stormers, Hammond groovers and hard charging Latin funk jams with Snowboy on the timbalas, bongos and bata drums. Great stuff all around! Titles include "Again And Again", "La Nuea Manera", "You've Made Me So Very Happy", "Orisha", "The Shakedown", "Rubberneck", "Dragging Me Down", "Kool To Be Uncool" and more. CD

✨✧ SpeedometerThis Is Speedometer ... LP
Blow It Hard/Freestyle (UK), 2003. New Copy (reissue)... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Heavy funk from Speedometer – a UK power-combo who've really grown their sound over the years! This one's the group's first full-length effort, and it's a really kickin little record with even more to offer than their great 45s! The group's expanded their lineup to feature some great horn work, smoking Hammond, and even some occasional sock-soul vocals from The Speedettes – a female group with a really great sound – not hokey or cliched at all, but with the searing style of some of the best deep soul female groups of the funk years, like The Emotions or The Exciters in their later recordings. The sets shifts easily from vocals to instrumentals – staying funky all the time, but nicely changing up the mode of the tunes. Titles include "What Am I Gonna Do", "Monkey Stick", "Wait Up", "It's Our Turn", "You Know You Can", "Mullet", "Growbag", and "Episode In Palmetto". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ VariousDiggin' P-Vine – Planet Funk Mixed By DJ Muro ... CD
P-Vine (Japan), 2013. Used ... Out Of Stock
DJ Muro normally mixes it up with classic funk and soul – but this time around, he's turned his mighty talents to a host of contemporary tracks from the deep funk underground – work from labels like Timmion, Record Kicks, and other hip indies – woven together here in a totally great blend of heavy drums and raw funky instrumentation! The tracks are all great on their own – but Muro's work really shows us what the right sort of DJ can do with the material – lining up the best breaks and tightest riffs – to come up with a stunning tapestry of sound that's even better than the sum of its funky parts! Tracks include "Soul Investigators Theme" by Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators, "Kool & The Gang" by Speedometer, "Truck Turner" by Undercover Express, "Purification (parts 1 & 2)" by Funkshone, "Pambiche" by New Cool Collective, "Midnight Feast Of Jazz" by Nick Pride & The Pimptones, "The Ghetto There's No Way Out" by The Soul Immigrants, "With Time" by Katzuma, "Got To Let My Feelings Show" by Bluey, "Stompin Joe" by Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro, and "Break The Fast" by Eddie Roberts West Coast Sounds. 24 tracks – and 70 minutes of music! (Funky Compilations, Deep Funk) CD
