Karlheinz Stockhausen —
Sirius ... LP DeutscheGrammophon (Germany), 1980. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ...
Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great double-length set from Stockhausen, and a wonderful mix of acoustic and electric elements – featuring a whole host of cool electronic sources, augmented by trumpet, soprano, bass, and bass clarinet. This album's one of his classics for DG – and the record's a masterpiece that provides a perfect introduction to his groundshaking music! (Out Sound, Classical)LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes original book inside the gatefold – a great copy!)
"Kommunion" and "Intensitaet" are 2 pieces from the 12 piece cycle recorded in 1969. The pieces mix acoustic instrumental solos with electronics and tam tam – and the resultant sound has much more of an avant jazz feel than a lot of Stockhausen's other work. Michael Portal is especially good, and plays a range of reed instruments, next to Johannes Fritsch, who also plays alto sax on the session. (Out Sound, Classical)LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono French blue tulip label pressing – Alle Hersteller – in the heavy bound cover. Cover has some wear and aging, peeled spot from price sticker removal, and small names written inside the gatefold.)
Two great works – issued here as a single LP away from the Drumming box set. (Out Sound, Classical)LP, Vinyl record album

Max Richter —
From Sleep ... LP DeutscheGrammophon (Germany), 2015. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ...
Out Of Stock
Beautiful sounds from Max Richter – a record that does plenty to evoke the quality of its title, but all without ever sounding sleepy at all! Instead, Richter works here with that careful blend of subtle sounds he's brought to other projects – mixing his own work on piano, organ, and keyboards with contributions from a string quartet and wordless soprano – as the blend of instruments and voice unfold at a level that almost reminds us of the pairing of Ennio Morricone and Edda Dell'Orso! Yet Richter's approach is less dramatic – and each new passage builds slowly, subtly – sometimes with these older echoes that almost take us back to Albioni or Pachelbel, yet without any hoke at all. Titles include "Dream 3", "Space 11", "Dream 13", "Path 19", "Path 5", and "Space 21". LP, Vinyl record album
One of the more unique Stockhausen albums of the 70s – solo clarinet work, played by Suzanne Stephens – who is in pretty wild stage costumes on both the front and back covers! (Out Sound, Classical)LP, Vinyl record album
Two mindblowing large ensemble performances from Stockhausen – Inori, which has a soloist performing gestures with the orchestra – and Formel, a much older piece that includes vibes, harp, celeste, and woodwinds! (Out Sound, Classical)LP, Vinyl record album
