For Seasons ... CD Deutsche Grammophon (Germany), 2017. New Copy ...

A very cool project from Daniel Hope – one that follows off his work with Max Richter on Vivaldi Recomposed – as it first features an unusual take on Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", then moves into different month-based performances of work from talents as diverse as Chilly Gonzales, Kurt Weill, Nils Frahm, AphexTwin, and Richter himself – as well as work by more traditional composers like Schumann, Bach, and Tchaikovsky! The "Four Seasons" performance takes up the first section of the album, which then moves into month-by-month titles based around the work of the other composers – performed by Hope on lead violin, with the Zurcher Kammerorchester, and instrumentation from Chilly Gonzales on piano, Claudio Bohorquez on cello, Jane Berthe on harp, and Naoki Kitaya on organ.
