Mike Falcao E Seu Conjunto (aka Walter Wanderley)No Embalo Do Samba ... LP
Imperial (Brazil), 1966. Very Good- ... $19.99
Wonderful bossa and samba grooves – with a hip edge that reminds us a lot of Ed Lincoln's best records from the time – no surprise, since Falcao is actually Brazilian organist Walter Wanderley, working under another name! Wanderley, as Falcao, plays Hammond organ with a sparkly finish – grooving lightly over tight samba rhtyhms, with some jangly piano thrown into counterbalance his work on the keys. The set grooves like a non-stop 60s party – with some occasional vocals, lots of weird-sounding percussion, and a real focus on tight snappy songs with a beat. Titles include "The Blues Walk", "Tamanco No Samba", "Giramundo", "Upa Neguinho", "Liberdade Demais", and "Sao Salvador". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mexican pressing on heavy vinyl. Label has a sticker at the spindle hole. Cover has a half split bottom seam that's been "repaired" at the end.)
