Airto's in the lead – and blows some beautiful wood flute lines alongside percussion – but the album also features killer contributions from Joe Farrell on soprano sax, Hubert Laws on flute, Keith Jarrett on piano, and Chick Corea on Fender Rhodes – as well as a hip bit of vocals from Flora Purim as well! A nicely understated 80s set from Milton Nascimento – a record that still has that heavenly, soaring sensibility in his vocals – but which maybe also has some of the intimacy you might expect from the cover's image of Milton walking alone in a forest! There's some jazzy currents in the music, but just a bit – and the set does include contributions from Pat Metheny and Hubert Laws – but the vibe is very much Nascimento's own, on titles that include "Lagrima Do Sul", "Raca", "Quem Perguntou Por Mim", "A Primeira Estrela", "Encontros E Despedidas", "Mar Do Nosso Amor", and "Vidro E Corte". One of the last great records ever made by Sarah Vaughan – a really solid session of Brazilian tunes, one that's produced by Sergio Mendes, arranged by Dori Caymmi, and which features guest vocals by Milton Nascimento! The general approach is west coast mellow – as the group features Alphonson Johnson, George Duke, Hubert Laws, Tom Scott, and Ernie Watts – and most of the tunes are English translations of older Brazilian tracks from the 60s and 70s, done by Sarah in an easy, jazzy tone.
