That's a young mug shot of Chico Buarque on the cover, but the album's a later effort from the 90s – and one that really holds us rapt with the brilliance of Chico's mature songwriting and performance! The record's part of that ever-growing legacy that may well make Buarque one of the consistently strongest talents to emerge from Brazil in the 60s – material that holds onto everything that made him great at the start, but which also sounds quite different than that period, too – in a way that a rare few (maybe even just Caetano Veloso) can pull off this well. Chico grabs us beautifully with every word he sings, and the arrangements have the same understated brilliance of his performance – on titles that include "Paratodos", "Romance", "Outra Noite", "Sobre Todas As Coisas", "Tempo E Artista", "A Foto Da Capa", and "Piano Na Mangueira". Amazing package, too – comes in a hardcover book-style jacket, with a bonus 45 page book that also includes full color images, with lots of vintage photos, plus notes on the record in Portuguese! The whole thing's sort of an update of the old AbrilCultural style of the 70s – brought into the CD generation. CD
A set that focuses on the songs of Joubert De Carvalho – as performed by Carlos Jose, Silvio Caldas, Carlos Galhardo, Carmen Miranda, Gastao Foirmenti, and Joubert himself – all with a booklet of notes and photos! LP, Vinyl record album

Very cool! This is the second pressing of this Edu Lobo "best of" – and like the first, it includes an excellent booklet of writings and photos – but unlike the first, this is a 12" LP, so it's actually got more songs. As with the others in this series, the album features a beautiful batch of compositions by the star – done both by him, and by other artists of his generation. The record features Elis Regina singing "Upa Neguinho", MPB-4 doing "No Cordao Da Saideira", Nara Leao singing "Cheganca", and Edu singing "Lero Lero", "Ilha Rasa", "Viola Fora De Moda", and "Zanzibar"! Also features a great duet with Marilia Medalha on the classic "Ponteio"! Plus, the book's got some totally cool photos of Edu from the 60s, and is almost worth the price alone! LP, Vinyl record album
(In the booklet cover, with light wear and some yellowing from age. Vinyl has some marks that click a bit on Side A.)

A beautiful tribute to Caetano – featuring an LP with some of his best songs, plus a super-cool booklet that's filled with loads of excellent photos from the late 60s and early 70s. Titles include "Baby" by Gal Costa and Caetano, "Tigresa" by Maria Bethania, "Um Indio" by Doces Barbaros, "Forca Estranha" by Gal Costa, and "Menino Do Rio" by Baby Consuelo – plus "E Proibido Proibir", "Atras Do Trio Eletrico", "Alegria Alegria", and "Tropicalia" by Caetano himself.
