Turbo, 1976. Very Good- ... Out Of Stock
A sweet funky set from the New Jersey 70s soul empire of the Stang/Turbo/All-Platinum family of labels – the kind of record that came out with little fanfare at the time, but which has a razor sharp groove all the way through! The set features plenty of wonderful work on keyboards – clavinet, organ, moog, and Arp – mixed with really sharp basslines that snap along nicely, and really tuck the tunes into the groove – as vocals from various group members trade places in the best funk ensemble mode! There's plenty of nice nuggets on this set – like the super-catchy "Chance With You", the moogy "Phattenin", and the warmly mellow "Visions" – next to other tracks that include "Groovy Day", "Take My Love", "Leavin Me", and "Let Your Mind Be Free". LP, Vinyl record album
(Cover has tape remnant along the opening.)

✨✧ Baby Face WilletteMo Rock ... LP
Argo, 1964. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A screamin' set of organ tracks by the legendary Baby Face Willette – one of the best organists of the early 60s, with a sound that's a lot madder than most! This album's one of two that Baby Face cut for Argo Records in Chicago – and it's a firey trio session with Baby Face wailin' away on the organ in styles that he never even hints at on his Blue Note LPs. Some of the tracks have a spooky spacey feel, like "Unseen & Unknown", while others have a straight ahead turbocharged groove, like the title cut, and "Zip Five". Other tracks include "Bantu Penda", "Dad's Theme", and "Sight In Darkness" – and the whole album's the sort of treasure that makes us keep digging for obscure organ players!
