✨✧ James BrownGoodbye My Love/Shades Of Brown ... 7-inch
Polydor (Germany), Late 60s. Very Good+ (pic cover)... $7.99
"Goodbye My Love" is one of James' ballad soul tracks – not bad overall, sung in a deep soul style that we always like – but the reall killer is "Shades Of Brown", a very groovy organ instrumental that often gets overlooked, and which has a hard-wailing, nice vamping quality! 7-inch, Vinyl record

James BrownI'm A Greedy Man (part 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Polydor, Mid 70s. Very Good ... $2.99
Funky! This oft-overlooked funky number features James shouting "pick up on this" a few times at the beginning – no instrumentation, just shouted vocals, in a great way that's excellent for dropping into a mix! The groove is in that bouncy style he was using in the 75/76 years, kind of like a rubber band grooving again and again! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ James BrownIt's Too Funky In Here/Are We Really Dancing ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1979. Good+ ... $0.99
Uptempo funky James from the end of the 70s – aimed at the discos, but with that funky sound of earlier days still pretty much in place! In other words, there's plenty of funky instrumentation in the cuts – a bit faster than in earlier years, but still quite nice – plus occasional flourishes of strings, to give the cuts a bit more of a disco approach. 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Plays with some crackles.)

✨✧ James BrownPayback (parts 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1973. Good ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of James Brown's greatest cuts ever – a stone funky monster that never gets old! The tune's got a snapping slow funk beat that's simply incredible, and it builds and builds with a sound that has an intensity that can't be beat! Plus, this 2-part single is actually pretty tough to find – a lot rarer than the album, with a strange spoken announcer over a few parts! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Plays with some surface noise, mostly on Part 2.)

✨✧ James BrownPublic Enemy #1 (part one)/My Thang ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1974. Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Nice stuff from James! "Public Enemy" is a wonderful track, with a long spoken monologue that shows a great side of James' progressive ideas. Nice message about heroin, and a good backing with a mellow feel. Even better is "My Thang", a nice hard funky track that's James' answer to "It's My Thing". It's great how angry he gets when someone else has a big funk hit, and it always seemed like he had to write his own version! 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ James BrownThere It Is (part 1) (double a-side promo) ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1972. Good+ ... Out Of Stock
An oft-forgotten funky classic from James! The track's a monster – with this wah-wah beat that's flanged all over the place, yet is still as tight as a pair of pants with a 26 inch waist! The groove is prime JBs early 70s – and James is shoutin and callin the groove over the top! 7-inch, Vinyl record
(Green label promo. Vinyl plays with some crackles. Labels have a name in pen.)

James Brown Soul TrainHonky Tonk (parts 1 & 2) ... 7-inch
Polydor, 1972. Very Good ... $4.99
An old track – redone as a funky 70s killer from James Brown! The track starts out in a JBs party mode – with some dialogue before the band starts playing, then hitting a "Funky Good Time" groove. Over the top, you'll get some hard raw guitar soloing – very much in the classic mode from the Bill Doggett original – and the "part 2" features some great sax work, probably from Maceo! Originally issued only on single, before appearing on a greatest hits LP. 7-inch, Vinyl record
