Mort GarsonDidn't You Hear ... LP
Sacred Bones, 1970. New Copy (reissue)... $18.99
One of the rarest albums ever from the legendary Mort Garson – an all-electronic film score, one that was originally only available on record in the lobby of a Seattle theater that was showing the film! The tracks are shorter than on some of Garson's more commercial projects of the time, and there's a lot more of them too – all with a vibe that resonates nicely with some of Mort's more private recordings, including some of his advertising work – showing that even though the project was a small one, Garson was still bringing his all to the music. Titles include "Sail Sail", "Kevin's Theme", "No Smoking", "Bamboo City", "Walk To Grange Hall", "Jeep Ride", "Dead Tree", "Walk To The Other Side Of The Island"- and "Virgil's Theme". Mort GarsonJourney To The Moon & Beyond ... CD
Sacred Bones, Late 60s/Early 70s. New Copy ... $13.99 15.99
One of the coolest collections of work we've ever heard from the great Mort Garson – a selection of tracks that were done during the same years as his famous album releases in the world of moog and analog synth, but done for much more obscure sources that include television, film, and other avenues of expression! The title's a reference to a cut here that was used during a 1969 broadcast of the moon landing – but there's so much more here too, and as always with Garson, there's a blend of electronic experimentation and tunefulness that make the whole thing pretty darn groovy – and not just a trip on the farther reaches of experimental electronics. Titles include "Moon Journey", "Zoos Of The World", "Music For Advertising #8", "Love Is A Garden", "The D-Bee's Cat Boogie", "Black Eye", "Western Dragon (part 3)", "Captain DJ Disco UFO", and "The Big Game Hunters See The Cheetah". ✨✧ Mort GarsonMother Earth's Plantasia ... CD
Homewood/Sacred Bones, 1976. New Copy ... $12.99 14.99
One of the coolest, moogiest records we've ever heard from Mort Garson – and that's saying a lot, given that the man gave us the Wozzard Of Iz and a host of moog-based astrological records too! The album's billed as "mood music especially composed to aid the growing of your plants" – and while we doubt that claim, it's more than groovy enough without any herbaceous activity at hand – these cool keyboard lines that are often sweetly tuneful, but nicely tripped-out too – played by one of the best cats to really grab hold of the moog right at the start of its great musical run! Titles include "A Mellow Mood For Maidenhair", "You Don't Have To Walk A Begonia", "Concerto For Philodendron & Pothos", "Ode To An African Violet", and "Plantasia". CD
(Includes the original Mother Earth Plant Care booklet!)

Mort GarsonZodiac Cosmic Sounds (180 gram gold vinyl pressing) ... LP
Elektra/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1967. New Copy (reissue)... $37.99 39.99
The Zodiac never sounded so spooky – and the album's one of the first in a trend that explored astrology with funky musical backings! The music for the set was put together by moogy maestro Mort Garson – then making a transition from being a straight easy arranger in the early 60s, to more of a tripped-out pop-psychedelic artist of the latter part of the decade. Garson brings a nice funky undercurrent to the set – in a style that's similar to the work of David Axelrod, but which also uses a bit more electric instrumentation. Each track features a spoken bit on a Zodiac sign – written by Jacques Wilson, and spoken by Cyrus Faryar – and the album also features some nice moog work by Paul Beaver! Titles include "Aries", "Taurus", "Cancer", "Leo", and so on! (P.S.: The label says "Must Be Played In The Dark!") LP, Vinyl record album

A really crazy LP of Zodiac pondering, with cool electronic music by Mort Garson – the guy behind "The Wozzard of Id"! ✨✧ Z (aka Mort Garson)Music For Sensuous Lovers ... LP
Anthem/Sensuous Sounds, Mid 70s. Very Good+ ... Out Of Stock
An obscure album of sex and sounds – typical of the genre in that it offers the sound of a woman receiving pleasure, backed by a variety of sonic settings. Mort Garson is listed in the writing credits, and we have to assume the record's handled by him – especially as the moog work that's heard throughout sounds a lot like his own mad knob twiddling! Divided into "Climax One" and "Climax Two"! LP, Vinyl record album

Verve, 1968. Used ... $5.99
An incredible album from Arthur Prysock – an amazing set of mature love modes, set to beautiful backings by Mort Garson! The album's easily Prysock at the height of his 60s sophistication – a complete reworking of the This Is My Beloved modes away from more mainstream readings, in ways that show the new poise, class, and confidence of the African-American scene at the end of the decade. Titles include "I Stood Long Where You Left Me", "I Need Your Love", "Your Words", "Your Eyes", and "You Did Not Come". CD

✨✧ Joanie SommersCome Alive – The Complete Columbia Recordings ... CD
Columbia/Real Gone, Mid 60s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A great package of music from singer Joanie Sommers – none of which has ever been on CD before! At the core of the record is the album Come Alive – really groovy work from singer Sommers – an overlooked gem recorded after her initial albums for Warner Brothers, and put together with some mighty cool arrangements from the great Mort Garson! Joanie's lost all her little girl pop modes here – and instead really comes across with the adult charm of a jazz singer – reaching out with some surprisingly deep tones on the mellower cuts, and showing a great sense of swing on the groovers – all at a mode that really takes her past the style of the early years! Mort's backings are great – as rich in jazzy tones as someone like Marty Paich, but also touched with some of the unusual inflections that always make Garson's music so great. Tracks include "I'm All Smiles", "Girl Talk", "You'd Better Love Me", "You Take What Comes Along", "Watch What Happens", "Too Late Now", and "Sunday In New York". Added to the core album are 12 more bonus tracks, some of which were singles, some never issued, and one a rare Pepsi commercial! Bonus cuts include "Love Song", "Never Never", "Alfie", "Never Throw Your Dreams Away", "Come Alive (Pepsi jingle)", and "It Doesn't Matter Anymore". CD
(Out of print.)
