✨✧ Max RomeoRevelation Time ... LP
Black World/17 North Parade, 1975. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A really classic set from the great Max Romeo – a record that oozes with the soulful vocals he first forged back in the 60s, and sparks with some of the more righteous themes of his rasta roots work of the 70s! The production is perfect – laidback, unassuming, and very much a showcase for Max's role in the lead – singing over rhythms that seem as dictated by his charisma upfront, as they are part of the bedrock of the album! Although carved out in a 70s roots mode, most of the songs have themes that are still pretty darn meaningful all these many years later – with titles that include "Warning Warning", "A Quarter Pound Of I'cense", "Three Blind Mice", "Blood Of The Prophet (parts 1 & 2)", "Open The Iron Gate (parts 1 & 2)", and "Revelation Time". Jimmy LondonBridge Over Troubled Waters (with bonus tracks) ... CD
Trojan/Doctor Bird (UK), Early 70s. New Copy 2CD ... $16.99 24.99
A beautiful collection – a full album and rare tracks from sweet-voiced reggae singer Jimmy London, plus a whole bonus disc of other material produced at Randy's too! The core album, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, is wonderful – recorded by a singer who maybe didn't hit the heights of some of his contemporaries, but who has a really universal soul quality to his vocals – a bit falsetto, a bit deeper and sweeter too – working through a mix of songs from American soul, plus a few originals – all with nicely warm production from Vincent Chin, marking that shift from rocksteady into early reggae! Titles include "Shake A Hand", "They Don't Know", "Hanging Up My Heart", "Just My Imagination", "It's Now Or Never", and "Bridge Over Troubled Water". Includes bonus tracks by Jimmy – including "Hip Hip Hooray", "Jamaican Festival 72", and "I'll Never Find Another Mood" – plus 38 more bonus tracks – by Lloyd Parks, Dennis Brown, Freedom Group, Alton Ellis, Ethiopians, Dennis Alcapone, Impact All Stars, Augustus Pablo, Carl Murphy, Max Romeo, and others. VariousYoung, Gifted & Black – 50 Classic Reggae Hits (3LP set) ... LP
Trojan (UK), 1960s/1970s. Near Mint- 3LPs ... $58.99
An excellent trple vinyl selection of some of the finest moments in reggae, 50 tracks in all, packing in strictly the best from start to finish. Like many of the other Trojan comps, this one's compiled from the perspective of the UK audience – the notes are provided by Don Letts and Robin Campbell – but still provides a set that'll have a universal appeal. As you might imagine, an exhaustive retrospective covering all the ground they start to look at here, from ska and rocksteady on up through the roots movement would take well more than 2 discs, but they've filled in a lot of the gaps nicely, including Prince Buster's "Madness", the Skatalites "Guns Of Navarone", Lord Tanamo "I'm In The Mood For Ska", Prince Buster "Al Capone", Desmond Dekker "007 - Shanty Town" & "You Can Get It If You Really Want", Dandy Livingstone "Rudy, A Message to You", the Paragons "The Tide Is High", Max Romeo "Wet Dream", the Upsetters "Return Of Django", Jimmy Cliff "Wonderful World, Beautiful People" & "Many Rivers To Cross", the Harry J All Stars "The Liquidator", the Maytals "Monkey Man", Boris Gardiner "Elizabethan Reggae", Bob Marley & The Wailers "Sun Is Shining", Dave & Ansell Collins "Double Barrel", Ken Boothe "Everything I Own", Susan Cadogan "Hurt So Good", Carl Malcolm "Fatty Bum Bum", Althea & Donna "Uptoen Top Ranking", Dennis Brown "Money In My Pocket" and Junior Murvin "Police & Thieves". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes insert – and in great shape!)

Classic sounds from Treasure Isle – the legendary Kingston studio that grew out of a liquor store, and which had a huge impact on the growth of Jamaican music in the 60s!
