✨✧ Aharon AmramSounds Of Yemen 1962 to 1987 ... LP
Fortuna (UK), Late 1960s/1970s/Early 1980s. New Copy 2LP ... Out Of Stock
Sounds of Yemen, but recorded in Israel by the great Aharon Amram – an artist who combines two different cultural modes into a very unique groove! The set brings together key cuts from Amram's huge catalog – one that's not nearly as well-known here in the US – and the sounds within are almost as revelatory as work from Ethiopia when heard for the first time – very hard to peg, with an otherworldly quality that blends acoustic and electric elements with some energy that seems to flow from the cosmos! The whole thing is a real discovery in music – and the set features 20 tracks that include "Safart", "Ach Ya Ouma", "Anat Alhawa", "Shuvi Yefeyfiya", "Ladema Eini", "Asalk Ya Hur", "Saperi Tama", "Kweit Ruhi", "Hil Yahil", "Im Nin'Alu", and "Hargat Nof Alail". ClothildeFrench Swinging Mademoiselle 1967 ... LP
Born Bad (France), 1967. New Copy ... $18.99 22.99
Groovy girl pop from late 60s France – a treasure trove of under-discovered numbers from the lovely Clothilde! Clothilde's from the same vintage as France Gall and Francoise Hardy – but she's got a style that's a bit sweeter vocally, yet still set to the mod-styled backings that really make 60s French pop so great! Tunes are plenty groovy, with a few trippy touches from time to time – and most numbers have a bouncy groove that really keeps things interesting – especially when odd instrumentation creeps into the mix – like bits of musical saw, oddball percussion, and bells and whistles! Titles include "Fallait Pas Ecraser Lau Queue Du Chat", "La Chanson Bete Et Mechante", "Le Boa", " "Saperlipopette", "102-103", "La Ballade Du Bossu", "A Ora Sos'e", and "Qualcosa Che Non Va". ✨✧ Joshua MosheInner Search ... LP
Le Sape (France), 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Joshua Moshe soars out of the gate on this wonderful record – equally great on saxes and keyboards, and working in a style that has him as a solo leader, opening the door to guests on each new track! The approach might be jagged in the hands of another, but there's a very unified vibe here – as Joshua blows alto, tenor, soprano, and bass clarinet – playing keyboards and piano too – while others bring in Fender Rhodes, flute, trumpet, bass, and percussion – all with a very fluid vibe! There's lots of Fender Rhodes in the mix – different players, with some different solo styles on some cuts, which increases the vibe of the record – and one tune, "Yehuda", has guest vocals. Other titles include "Levels", "Tree House", "Shemesh", "The Healer", "Spin Cycle", and "Inner Search". LP, Vinyl record album
