A great little record from guitarist Jeanne Ricks
– one of those underground heroes in soul and jazz – an artist who's contributed tunes to many others' albums, played on some famous sets, but hardly ever gets enough time in the spotlight on her own! This album will hopefully correct that, as Jeanne
's got a starpower here that's wonderful – confidently singing alongside her guitar, in a mix of soul and jazz that takes us back to some of the classic work of Sheree Brown – even though Ricks
has a style that's very much her own! Jeanne
wrote, arranged, and handled most of the other work on the record – and titles include "Love Remembers", "Can We Trust", "River Rising", "When You Go", "Back To The Middle", and "Dancing On The Edge".
