✨✧ DJ Magic Mike & MC MadnessAin't No Doubt About It ... CD
Cheetah, 1991. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of those LPs that will go a long way towards rewriting the place of the south in the hip hop history books, from the era before the ascendancy of the ATL, etc. etc. Some of these cuts are definitely aimed at getting butts clapping, but there's more than a few respectable rhymes here, some excellent DJ work, and of course, loads of bass. 23 tracks in all, including "Speedy & Poncho", "Ain't No Doubt About It", "Dynamic Duo", "Do You Like Bass?", "Slow Draggin", "Madness To The Brink Of Insanity","Just Cruisin", "Suckers Frontin", "I'm Gonna Make It Real Funky For You", "The E & The Sea-Gull", "Give 'Em An Example Of How A DJ Works", "Abracadabra", "Feel The Bass III", "Shake Your Booty Baby" and "The Boo-Boo Of Rough J Rough". Joni MitchellJoni Mitchell (aka Song To A Seagull) (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Reprise/Rhino, 1968. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... $22.99 24.99
The mindblowing full length debut of Joni Mitchell – and a record that instantly set a whole new tone for singer/songwriter material in the late 60s! Joni had years of folk experience before this set, but the record is something else entirely – dark at times, deeply personal, and inflected with an understanding of jazz phrasing that haunts some of the guitar work, and maybe a bit of the vocals – yet all in a way that's very different than much of Mitchell's later work too. The record is definitely one of those landmarks in this moment of an artist who emerges fully formed, with a sound that's all their own – resonating with a strength that's as powerful now as it was way back then! Titles include "I Had A King", "Sistowbell Lane", "The Dawntreader", "Cactus Tree", "Song To A Seagull", "The Pirate Of Penance", "Nathan La Franeer", and "Night In The City". LP, Vinyl record album

OlympicsDoin The Hully Gully (Ace) ... LP
Ace (UK), Late 1950s/Early 1960s. Near Mint- ... $9.99
Amazing vocal work from The Olympics – a great little group who bridged the gap between doo wop and 60s soul – and who had a pyrotechnic style that only The Coasters could match! Like The Coasters, The Olympics often mixed in a good deal of humor with their tunes – not only in the subject matter, which often included topics from the lower end of the mid century cultural spectrum, but also in the way they delivered the tunes – which was always lively and exuberant! This quality made for some nice little groovers in the group's repertoire too – tunes that rock and roll with an early approach to upbeat 60s soul, and which has made some of their numbers perennial dancefloor favorites. Titles include "Little Pedro", "Dodge City", "Private Eye", "Big Boy Pete", "Big Chief Little Puss", "Stay Away From Joe", and "Baby Hully Gully"; plus bonus tracks not included in the original issue. ✨✧ Lars GullinBaritone Sax ... CD
Atlantic (UK), 1956. Used ... Out Of Stock
An amazing American release from this legendary baritone saxophonist – one of a few Swedish sessions that Lars issued here in the US at the time! The album's a perfect introduction to Gullin's groundbreaking work – that blend of soul, swing, and modernism that easily made him one of the best talents on his instrument in the postwar years – an overseas player to rival gians like Pepper Adams or Serge Chaloff here in the US! The work is some of Lars' best from the decade – and the tracks feature his modernist baritone in different groupings with top Swedish jazzmen of the time – including Rune Ofwerman on piano, Arne Domnerus on alto, Rolf Blomquist on tenor, Ake Persson on trombone, and George Riedel on bass. The tracks are all longish (most are over 5 minutes), with a strong swing, and introspective solos by Gulling that are some of his strongest of the time – and titles include "Perntz", "Fedja", "All Of Me", and "So What". ✨✧ Lars GullinGullin's Garden (10 inch LP) ... LP
EmArcy, 1955. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
One of a number of excellent 50s American releases by Swedish baritonist Lars Gullin – a 4 track 10" LP that features backing by a septet that includes Putte Wickman, Ake Persson, Bengt Hallberg, and George Riedel. The tracks are a bit longer than usual for Gullin – making for a record that has a more open ended groove than some of his more tightly arranged sets – not really a blowing session, but kind of heading in that direction! Titles include "Cat In Clover", "Cheese Rennett", "Cowslip", and "Laburnum". LP, Vinyl record album

A group we only know from this one album on Elektra – but one that also features great lead vocals from the young Daryl Hall, who often harmonizes along with the group's guitarist Tim Moore – with the kind of soulful currents that point the way towards his later duo recordings! Be Bop DeluxeLive In The Air Age ... LP
EMI/Harvest, 1977. Near Mint- 2LP ... $9.99
The "air" here might well refer to the charged atmosphere in the arena during the live show that makes up this set from Be Bop Deluxe – a nice summation of everything that Bill Nelson and the group had done on their studio classics from the mid 70s, maybe stripped-down here a bit away from the studio! Yet somehow, the music also has that wonderful sense of compression that the group always got – a way of layering the sound at a level that's maybe post-glam, pre-punk, and without some of the fuller trappings of ELO, with more of a focus on the guitar. The whole approach holds up surprisingly well on stage – and titles include "Shine", "Fair Exchange", "Sister Seagull", "Blazing Apostles", "Life In The Air Age", and "Ships In The Night". A contemporary legend in Latin music – one that was done in collaboration with the film of the same name – organized by Ry Cooder, directed by Wim Wenders, and put forth as a reminder to America that Cuban culture was still going strong, even decades after we turned our backs on the nation! The "social club" in the title is well-put – as there's a relaxed, easygoing approach to the music here – warmly collaborative efforts from some of the greats of the scene in Havana – many of whom were able to enjoy renewed global attention, thanks to the efforts of the record and film. The lineup features Ruben Gonzalez on piano, Eliades Ochoa on guitar, Cachaito on bass, and Guajiro on trumpet – plus famous vocal contributions from Ibrahim Ferrer, Compay Segundo, and Omara Portuondo. Stan GetzImported From Europe (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Verve (Japan), 1958. Used ... $18.99
Although pressed up by Verve, the music is definitely Imported From Europe – as Stan Getz plays here with a host of great Swedish players – on a date that makes for a real standout in his 50s catalog! Stan was living in Sweden at the time of the album – bringing a big influence to the scene there, and furthering the already modernist tones that some of the nation's best players were creating in the postwar years. There's a brilliant blend of iciness and warmth going on here – and players include Bengt Hallberg on piano, Ake Persson on trombone, Erik Nordstrom on tenor, and Lars Gullin on baritone – plus American Benny Bailey on trumpet, who was also making a home for himself over there at the time! Tracks are long, sometimes with a lively jam session-ish feel – and titles include "Bengt's Blues", "Topsy", "Speak Low", and "Stockholm Street". CD

Love SculptureForms & Feelings ... LP
Parrot, 1969. Very Good+ ... $13.99 16.99
Wonderful work from Love Sculpture – a heavy British trio from the end of the 60s – and one that features a young Dave Edmunds on guitar! There's a slight bluesy undercurrent in Dave's style, but the music also has that tightly compressed sound that would emerge more strongly during his hit solo years – yet which is presented here with some very nice rough edges. Songwriting is especially great – a fresh approach to territory that was beginning to sound a bit stale in the hands of some of the group's contemporaries – presented here with a clean, lean sound that's almost a precursor to power pop at points, yet which still has a heavier late 60s rock feel. Titles include "In The Land Of The Few", "Seagull", "People People", "Mars", "Sabre Dance", "Farandole", and "You Can't Catch Me". LP, Vinyl record album

Christian McBrideChristian McBride Live At Tonic (3CD set) ... CD
Ropeadope, 2006. Used 3 CDs ... $11.99
An ambitious little set from Christian McBride – one that brings together 3CDs of music recorded over 2 nights of performance – all in a mode that shows McBride picking up plenty of funky touches! The group here features Geoffrey Keezer on keyboards, Ron Blake on saxes, and Terreon Gully on drums – really hitting the kit with a pounding intensity to match McBride's pulsating work on both acoustic and electric basses – jamming here a lot strongly than we remember from other studio sides. The expanded package is presented (amazingly) at the same price as a regular CD – and offers plenty of long tracks to really hear this great band stretch out in a space that's nicely between conventional jazz and some of the looser modes of the jamband underground. Guest appearances include Charlie Hunter, DJ Logic, Scratch, Eric Krasno, and Jason Moran – and titles include "Say Something", "Clerow's Flipped", "Lejos De Usted", "Sonic Tonic", "Hibiscus", "Sitting On A Cloud", "Mwandishi Outcome Jam", "Lower East Side", "See Jam Hear Jam Feel Jam", "E Jam", and "D Shuffle Jam". Yuji Ohno & OthersTouch – The Sublime Sound Of Yuji Ohno ... CD
We Want Sounds (UK), 1970s. New Copy ... $16.99 19.99
Japanese pianist Yuji Ohno started out in jazz, but soon had a role in so many different styles on his scene during the 70s – arranging for singers, doing soundtrack material, and serving up work in a whole host of different contexts – many of which are included in this mighty nice set! The vibe is funky and electric on most numbers, but Ohno plays acoustic here and there – and the set mixes vocal numbers and instrumentals in a really great way, both English and Japanese, with more than enough diversity to show you Yuji's skills in a range of different modes. SamphaLahai ... CD
Young, 2023. New Copy ... $14.99 15.99
Sampha's a singer who's always hard to peg, but one who grabs you right away – with a voice that's one of the most unique, distinct, and powerful in contemporary soul music – and which deserves to be heard in all its brilliance on a record like this! We're not sure how to describe what we like so much – there's a raspiness at times that make his lyrics almost feel conversational and up-close, and a touch of a London accent that makes familiar words a bit more meaningful, and maybe a slight sense of warmth amidst it all – an indication that Sampha's never too full of himself, even though you might guess that from his image on the cover! Production and instrumentation is nicely understated – really letting the voice flow over the keys and other elements – on titles that include "Spirit 2.0", "Wave Therapy", "Only", "Rose Tint", "Inclination Compass", "Stereo Colour Cloud", "Jonathan L Seagull", "Satellite Business", "Time Piece", "Only", and "Can't Go Back". ✨✧ Kath1 (plus bonus tracks) ... CD
Lion, 1974. New Copy 2CD ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
One of those amazing obscure records that seems to come out of nowhere – sounding nothing like most of the mainstream work of the time, with a power that might have shaped the world of music for years to come – if the album hadn't been issued in a tiny pressing of only 60 copies! There's a darkness here that's mindblowing – not just in the vocals, and the weird echoey way they've been recorded – but also in the overall instrumentation and pacing of the record – kind of a melancholy, slow progression that almost prefaces 80s styles on 4AD, but with a much rougher feel overall! Any psyche impulses are broken down into much sparer, earthier sounds – and there seems to be a bit of electronics in the mix – or is it just noise from the guitar? Yet lyrical themes are up-close and personal too – almost chance-taking in their earnestness, without the somberness of the instrumentation. All of this makes for a sublime mix – and a record that's as captivating as it is rare. Titles include "Lonely Again", "I Want To Love You", "Goodbye Sunshine", "Candleman", and "Seagulls" – and 2CD set features a whopping 23 bonus tracks – a huge amount of unreleased material, and a few other singles by the group. Marge (France), 2003. Used ... Out Of Stock
Not just a beautiful display of the talents of pianist Claudine Francois – but also a set that breathes new life into the role of some of Steve Lacy's key bandmates on the Paris scene! Francois is a pianist who's worked before on some world/jazz crossover projects – but who really comes across here with a beautiful approach to jazz – quite freewheeling, lyrical, and very open-ended – yet always with a sense of structure that's really compelling – a way of hanging inside rhythmic progressions with her music, as she explores some very open space with Steve Potts on alto and soprano sax, Jean-Jacques Avenel on bass, and John Betsch on drums. All three players have a quality here that's quite different than the usual Lacy outing – quite soulful at times, and tuned with a perfect ear towards some of Francois' African jazz leanings. A little bit leaner, and little bit darker, and a lot more solo of a PJ Harvey album after the comparatively bigger sounding Stories From The City, Stories From The City (itself largely the work of trio, though more deliberately layered and polished) – but true to form, Polly subverts the expectation that she'd strip things raw on a record in which does all but play the drums on – not just on guitars and vocals, bass, piano, accordion, melodica and more on an effort that has a fleshed out band vibe done mostly herself! Rob Ellis handles drums and percussion and titles include "The Life And Death Of Mr. Badmouth", "Shame", "Who The F**k?", "The Pocket Knife", "The Letter", "The Slow Drug", "No Child Of Mine", "The End", "Seagulls" and "The Darker Days Of Me & Him". A really beautiful record from vibist Joe Locke – and maybe his most dynamic album in years! The set's got Joe working in a particularly angular mode – carving out these wonderful lines of sound with core rhythms from the trio of Robert Rodriguez on piano, Terreon Gully on drums, and Ricky Rodriguez on bass – all younger players who provide a very fresh setting for Locke's vibes! Joe's still got all the warmth of his recent records, but also has a bit more edge, too – which we like a lot – and this quality seems to come out especially strong alongside some of the guests – who include Rosario Giuliani on alto and soprano sax and Donny McCaslin on tenor. A late 60s bluesy-psych album by Outlaw Blues Band! The group's got equal parts funk and equal parts blues, and they play with kind of trippy approach to the music that's filled with lots of wry touches – both instrumentally and vocally – that keep things nice and lively! Breaking In brings the blues influences a bit more to the fore, and is more stripped down in instrumentation, but it's still a pretty tripped out set with some great drums, woozy organ and searing guitars. Titles include "Plastic Man", "My Baby's Left And Gone", "Day Daid", "Mamo Pano Shhhh", "You're The Only One" and "Deep Gully". CD

✨✧ Bridget St JohnSongs For The Gentle Man ... LP
Dandelion/Trading Places, 1971. New Copy Gatefold (reissue)... Out Of Stock
The second album from the enigmatic Bridget St John – and a slightly more expanded version of the sound explored on her debut! Bridget's still very much in a folk-inspired sound here – but like the work of Nick Drake and some of her contemporaries on the British scene, this album has jazzier phrasings and some slightly baroque touches on some tunes – really deepening the feel of the songs, and giving the album a dark depth that we'd easily compare with some of Drake's greatest work. Studio genius Ron Geesin produced the set with a surprising degree of subtlety – just the right amount of edgey undercurrents to unsettle the tunes nicely – never threatening Bridget's presence on the album, but augmenting the moody spectrums that already came across so nicely on the first record. Titles include "A Day A Way", "City Crazy", "Back To Stay", "Seagull Sunday", "If You'd Been There", "Song For The Laird Of Connaught Hall (part 2)", "It Seems Very Strange", and a version of Donovan's "The Pebble & The Man". ✨✧ SamphaLahai ... LP
Young, New Copy ... Out Of Stock
✨✧ Basso Valdambrini OctetBlues For Gassman (180 gram vinyl) (2023 Record Store Day Release) ... LP
GMG (Italy), 1959/1960. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
A great set of postwar Italian jazz – the combination of 2 sessions from the end of the 50s, both featuring the octet of tenorist Gianni Basso and trumpeter Oscar Valdambrini! The pair are joined in the frontline by Dino Piana on trombone on about half the set – and by the baritone sax of the great Swedish player Lars Gullin on another four tunes – and together, the tracks have a lively and hard-swinging feel that's very much in keeping with the best jazz showing up on Italian soundtracks at the time – no surprise, since the Gassman in the title is Vittorio Gassman, one of the greatest Italian character actors of the 50s and 60s! Tunes include "Fata Morgana", "Guess Who", "Ciau Turin", "Crazy Rhythm", "Peter Of April", and "Blues For Gassman", a strong original written by Piero Umiliani! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Roy Burrowes with Mal WaldronLive At The Dreher ... CD
Marge (France), 1980. Used ... Out Of Stock
A tremendous set from Jamaican trumpeter Roy Burrowes – a musician who's never been as recorded as often as he should, which is what makes this lost live set so special! The set was recorded live in Paris at the start of the 80s – with Burrowes on trumpeter, in a group that also features Mal Waldron on piano – at a time when he was doing some really wonderful work on the European scene, at a level that's almost a new wave of spiritualism in his music – which really seems to bring out the best in Roy! Also great is reedman Richard Raux – who plays some soulful tenor and soprano sax that works wonderfully alongside Burrowes – on long titles that include "Old Compton Street", "Seagulls", "Jamaica", "Searching", Going Back Home", "Symphony In Blues", and "Hard Talk". ✨✧ Rolf Ericson & His All American StarsRolf Ericson & His All American Stars (plus bonus tracks) ... CD
EmArcy/Fresh Sound (Spain), 1956. Used ... Out Of Stock
A key American album from trumpeter Rolf Ericson – a player with roots in the Swedish scene, but one who also made some big waves on the west coast during the 50s! Although Rolf was living in the US at the time of the date, the set was actually recorded in Sweden, on a tour of that nation – with a killer group that features Cecil Payne on baritone, Duke Jordan on piano, Art Taylor on drums, and John Simmons on bass – a tight little quintet who give Ericson's trumpet one of its greatest settings on record so far! There's a nice dark edge to some of the best numbers – most of which are originals by members of the group – and titles include "Forecast", "Vacker Flicka", "Visby Groove Alley", "Flight To Jordan", a medley of "I Cover The Waterfront"/"Laura"/"Everything Happens To Me", and "This Time The Dream's On Me". CD also features 5 bonus tracks recorded live by Ericson in Sweden from the same year, but with a different group – Lars Gullin on baritone, Freddie Redd on piano, Tommy Potter on bass, Joe Harris on drums, and a bit of vocals from Ernestine Anderson – on titles that include "A Foggy Day", "I Got It Bad", "Love For Sale", and "Lover Man". ✨✧ Jutta HippHipp Is Cool – The Life & Art Of Jutta Hipp (6CD/DVD/book set) ... CD
Be! (Germany), 1950s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
An incredible tribute to German pianist Jutta Hipp – one of the few female players in the postwar European jazz scene, and one of the few who managed to make a splash on this side of the Atlantic too! Jutta's best known to American audiences for a handful of records she cut for Blue Note – and this set takes those records, and moves way way past them – to including a huge range of material that really opens up our understanding of Hipp's music in her all-too-short career! The CDs feature early German recordings – in a number of sessions with small groups that include a quintet with Emil Mangelsdorff on alto and Joki Freeund on tenor, a number of performances in the New Jazz Stars group of tenorist Hans Koller, work in a quintet with Attila Zoller on guitar, another sextet with Albert Mangelsdorff on trombone, and a group co-led with baritone saxoponist Lars Gullin. The set then moves onto American trio recordings from 1956 – including a few tracks from the Newport Jazz Festival – plus a key session with tenorist Zoot Sims – and the package is concluded by very early recordings, some with Hans Koller, and some from the mid 40s with the Lime City Swing Club! The set also features performances on DVD with Hans Koller – and the whole thing comes with a massive 208 page coffee table book – filled not only with German and English notes and biography, plus a recording index, hundreds of photos, record sleeves, labels, and even some of Jutta's own artwork too! A huge amount of music – and a very beautiful package too! CD

✨✧ Jazz CritiqueIssue 235 – European Swing ... Book
Jazz Critique (Japan), 2023. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
French jazz giant Barney Wilen is on the cover – and this issue of Jazz Critique looks at key records on the European scene from the postwar years onward! Given that "swing" is the mode here, there's not really any avant records – and instead the issue offers up a discography of players like Wilen, Lars Gullin, Dick Morrisey, Jimmy Deuchar, and others from the modern/hardbop moment of the 50s and 60s – plus some more contemporary artists too. Each record is presented with cover art and some details in English – plus a shorter review in Japanese – and the issue has a color section at the start, and other jazz features with images throughout the 192 pages within. ✨✧ Magic SamLive At The Avant Garde – June 22, 1968 ... CD
Delmark, 1968. Used ... Out Of Stock
A hell of a great record from Magic Sam – a really well-recorded live set from a small club in Milwaukee, and an album that really gets at all the gritty genius that made Sam so great! The set's almost equal parts blues and soul – definitely the former, but with plenty of funky undercurrents of the latter, too – especially given the open setting, and the group's mighty strong drums from Bob Richey! Sam's vocals and guitar are wonderfully raspy, but super-sharp at the same time – and the only other instrumentation in the set is some mighty nice bass from Big Mojo Elem. Titles include "Hully Gully Twist", "I Need You So Bad", "Feelin Good", "You Belong To Me", "That's All Right", "Lookin Good", "San Ho Zay", "Every Night Every Day", and "It's All Your Fault Baby". ✨✧ Joe QuijanoEverything Latin – Yeah, Yeah! ... CD
Columbia, 1963. Used ... Out Of Stock
One of Joe's best albums from the 60s, and a lively batch of Latin tracks done up in some of the favorite flavors of the day – pachanga, bolero-cha, bossa nova, and the weirdo "wobble-cha"! The title cut's a "wobble cha" groover with English lyrics about Latin music – and many of the other cuts are instrumentals, with a very off-beat approach to arrangements that has a lot of the reed instruments playing strange parts over off-kilter rhythms. Titles include "Saboo", "Zoom Gully Gully", "Muy Bonita", "Amour, Soleil Et Cha Cha Cha", and "La Lluvia". CD

✨✧ Bridget St JohnDandelion Albums & BBC Recordings Collection (Ask Me No Questions/Songs For The Gentle Man/Thank You For/Live BBC) (4CD set) ... CD
Cherry Red (UK), Late 60s/Early 70s. Used 4CD ... Out Of Stock
A massive collection of work from the legendary Bridget St John – a singer who just seems to get better and better the more we listen to her music! First up is the album Ask Me No Questions – a set with the same spare, chilling quality as Nico's first album on Verve! Like Nico, Bridget is amazingly without categorization – a folksinger initially, but one who's working here with a darkly personal quality that goes far beyond most folk work of the 60s! There's almost a Leonard Cohen-like quality to the tracks here – as they're little song-paintings in words that accomplish a tremendous amount with very little – evocative portraits and landscapes that need little more than Bridget's voice and guitar to carry them off. Titles include "Autumn Lullaby", "Like Never Before", "Barefeet & Hot Pavement", "I Like To Be With You In The Sun", "Many Happy Returns", and "Ask Me No Questions". Next is Songs For The Gentle Man – a slightly more expanded version of the sound explored on her debut! Next is Thank You For – a slight shift in styles for British singer/songwriter Bridget St John – an album that shakes off a few of the folksy touches of earlier years, but still retains all the dark corners that make her work so great! A few tracks on the album have Bridget working with more traditional accompaniment, but overall most of the record still focuses strongly on voice and guitar – augmented slightly by additional instrumentation that's used sparingly, but beautifully. Most of the tracks here are still by St John – including "Nice", "Thank You For", "Happy Day", and "To Leave Your Cover" – but the album also features a few covers, like Buddy Holly's "Every Day" and Dylan's "Love Minus Zero No Limit". And the final CD features BBC recordings from 1968 to 1972 – including performances for Nite Ride, Top Gear, Peter Sarstedt, Bob Harris, and In Concert. CD

✨✧ VariousRevolutionary Spirit – The Sound Of Liverpool 1976 to 1988 (5CD set) ... CD
Cherry Red (UK), Late 70s/1980s. Used 5CD ... Out Of Stock
A huge look at the Liverpool scene in the UK – but one that doesn't focus on the generation of the Beatles and Brit Invasion groups – and instead brings some great attention to the city's contribution to the post-punk years and beyond! The package is tremendous – 100 songs in a huge booklet of notes – tracing an evolution from the late 70s years, when Liverpool was as creative and fervent of a scene as other North England territories, like Manchester and Sheffield – but also one that could quickly develop some tuneful aspects too, which no doubt helped the rest of the UK music scene of the 80s find a way to expand in some great global directions! Throughout the whole time covered here, there's a great tension between experimentation and commercial success – one that's covered beautifully by the many tracks in the collection, and also documented in the hefty notes within. There's far too many tracks here for us to list – but let us say that the package is overflowing with work by artists as diverse as Dalek I, The Wild Swans, China Crisis, Pink Industry, Care, Box Of Toys, Deaf School, Big In Japan, Pale Fountains, Icicle Works, Dead Or Alive, The Lotus Eaters, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Mr Amir, Brenda & The Beach Balls, Jegsy Dodd & The Sons Of Harry Cross, The La's, Jactars, Magic Carpets, Barbel, The Walking Seeds, Thomas Lang, Ministry Of Love, Nightmares In Wax, OMD, The Planets, Spitfire Boys, Geisha Girls, Royal Family & The Poor, Public Disgrace, It's Immaterial, The Balcony, The Yachts, Teardrop Explodes, Original Mirrors, The Press Gang, Moderates, Egypt For Now, Those Naughty Lumps, Flock Of Seagulls, Freeze Frame, Echo & The Bunnymen, and many more! A full funky set of tracks from Will Sessions – a record that more than lives up to the group's previous legacy, but also seems to take them into this cool cosmic territory – maybe even the "electromagnetic reality" promised in the title! There was always raw funk energy at the Will Sessions core, but this time around it's almost as if it's wrapped up in some sweet spacey sounds that echo the 70s revolution of artists like Lonnie Liston Smith or Larry Mizell – which, as you can imagine, only makes the elements at the core even sound better!
