Georgie FameBallad Of Bonnie & Clyde ... LP
Epic, 1968. Very Good- ... $1.99
One of the few American albums ever issued by Georgie Fame – a great set of tracks from his early CBS years, put together with a package that was bound to appeal to US fans digging the Bonnie & Clyde movie! The work here is a hip mix of jazz, soul, and R&B styles – all served up with that Georgie Fame charm that made his music unlike anyone else's at the time. And although we're not sure, it appears that there's a few tracks here that might not have been issued on LP back in the UK – as the set list features 11 tracks that include "Mellow Yellow", "Bullets La Verne", "This Is Always", "Side By Side", "Blue Prelude", "Someone To Watch Over Me", "Ask Me Nice", "When I'm Sixty Four", and "The Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde". LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo pressing. Cover is mostly split, with heavy surface wear, ink stamp, corner bend.)

Georgie Fame & The Blue FlamesRhythm & Blues At The Flamingo ... LP
Columbia (UK), 1964. Near Mint- ... $19.99 29.99
Blistering early work from a young Georgie Fame – a set that definitely lives up to the Rhythm & Blues in the title! The set was recorded live at London's hip Flamingo club – and Georgie and The Blue Flames are very much in command of the crowd – burning with the intensity of a American small organ combo, especially the early 60s variety that often played equal parts soul jazz and R&B! Georgie's on the Hammond, and also sings with a rough-edged style that's plenty soulful, and incredibly appealing – a mode that oozes charisma, but never sounds fake or forced. Other instrumentation includes tenor, baritone sax, bass, drums, and conga – plus some great guitar from Big Jim Sullivan – and titles include "Do The Dog", "Eso Beso", "Work Song", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Shop Around", "Humpty Dumpty", and "You Can't Sit Down". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mid 80s UK RSO reissue in a barcode cover, with some spotty aging on both sides.)

✨✧ Eric Burdon & The AnimalsEric Is Here ... LP
MGM, 1967. Very Good+ ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A very cool record – and a bit different than some of the other MGM material by the Animals! Eric Burdon's soulful vocals are in the lead, and set up here with great backings from Benny Golson and Horace Ott – both of whom bring a strong current of soul jazz to the set, for a mod groove that's almost in Georgie Fame territory! LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono pressing. Cover has aging, light wear.)

✨✧ Tete MontoliuCatalonian Fire ... LP
Steeplechase/Inner City, 1974. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Plenty of fire here – the kind of quick-witted piano work we've really come to admire from Tete Montoliu – who really hits a new level of genius on his 70s recordings for the Steeplechase label! Montoliu has this amazing way of hitting hard, with a real edge – then laying back and just letting things flow – kind of a shift between left and right hand emphasis that really makes for some breathtaking runs on the keyboard – especially with backing here from Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen on bass and Albert Tootie Heath on drums. Tracks are nice and long, and titles include "Sweet Georgie Fame", "Blues For Perla", "Falling In Love With Love", and "Old Folks". LP, Vinyl record album
(US pressing. Cover has a corner cut and light wear.)

✨✧ Jack Van PollHi Jackin' (180 gram gold vinyl pressing) ... LP
Decca/Music On Vinyl (Netherlands), 1972. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A massive Fender Rhodes set from early 70s Belgium – the kind of set that never shows up on this side of the Atlantic, and which is pretty darn rare in its home territory too! Keyboardist Jack Van Poll has a wonderful sense of space on this set – a way of letting the tunes build simply and gracefully – often with a slow-growing groove that lets the Rhodes roll along wonderfully – never too slow, though, and always with a sweet funky undercurrent! And while we'd never heard of Jack before this set, he's got a great sense of style and imagination on his solos – very open, but always with a soulful undercurrent. The rest of the trio includes Mary Hehuat on Fender bass and Ruud Pronk on drums – and titles include "Marriedyet", "Blue Tait", "A Box For Leslie", "Sweet Georgie Fame", "Passage To Pferov", and "Objizdka". ✨✧ Muddy WatersLondon Muddy Waters Sessions ... LP
Chess, 1972. Very Good+ Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
A famous 70s session from the great Muddy Waters – one that has him heading over to London, and rubbing shoulders in the studio with some key musicians whose work he'd helped inspire! Chess Records first tried this mode out with Howlin Wolf in 1970 – but the Waters session is maybe even more cohesive and uplifting – thanks in part to Muddy's ability to really reach out and welcome in fans and supporters from the outside! There's still some Chicago help at the core, thanks to a young Carey Bell on harmonica – working here alongside UK rock superstars who include Rory Gallagher on guitar, Rick Grech on bass, and Steve Winwood on piano and organ – plus some work on organ from Georgie Fame (billed as Georgie Fortune), and guest vocals from the great Rosetta Hightower. Back in Chicago, Johnny Pate added a few touches with his arrangements – and titles include "Key To The Highway", "Walkin Blues", "I Don't Know Why", "Sad Sad Day", "Who's Gonna Be Your Sweet Man When I'm Gone", "Blind Man Blues", and "Young Fashioned Ways". ✨✧ John Mayall's Blues BreakersPlays John Mayall – Live At Klook's Kleek ... LP
Deram, 1965. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
The smoking debut of legendary UK bluesman John Mayall – and a live album at that! Although bluesy, the work here also has a fair bit of US R&B overtones – similar to those showing up in the beat group era work of Zoot Money, Georgie Fame, and others of the time – although with a style that's much rougher and rootsier than their work! Mayall plays plenty of Hammond and sings – and other instrumentation includes lots of raspy guitar next to bass, drums, and just a bit of alto sax – used to underscore some of the more R&B moments in the set. Titles inlcude "Crawling Up A Hill", "I Wanna Teach You Everything", "The Hoot Owl", "Doreen", "Chicago Line", and "What's The Matter With You". CD also features 5 bonus tracks that include "Crocodile Walk", "My Baby Is Sweeter", "Blues City Shakedown", and "Mr James". LP, Vinyl record album
