✨✧ Elis Regina & Antonio Carlos JobimElis & Tom ... LP
Philips (Brazil), 1974. Very Good Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
An incredible album – and a landmark session that showed that the bossa nova was still alive and well in the 1970s! The album pairs the breathy jazz vocals of Elis Regina with the booze-soaked warmth of Antonio Carlos Jobim – in a set of spare arrangements that feature a lot of touches from Cesar Carmargo Mariano, whose work on Elis Regina's 70s sessions is still the stuff of legend! Elis' vocals dominate, but when Tom comes in, the result is even more spectacular – especially given the generally light instrumentation used on most tracks – which means that the vocals carry the bulk of the sound on the set! Includes the pair's sublime duet on "Aguas de Marco", plus the tracks "Fotografia", "Brigas, Nunca Mais", "Retrato Em Branco E Preto", "Chovendo No Roseira", "Modinha", and "Triste". LP, Vinyl record album
(Second gatefold pressing. Cover has some top seam wear, but looks nice overall.)

✨✧ Antonio Carlos JobimMan From Ipanema ... CD
Verve, 1960s/1970s/1980s. Used 3 CDs ... Out Of Stock
A beautiful package – as beautiful as the music of Jobim, and one of the true fitting tributes to his genius! The set is a retrospective of the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim – and it features tracks that stretch back to his early recordings for Verve, CTI, and Philips (from both the US and Brazil), work he did with other artists (including Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz, and Elis Regina), and even recent work recorded slightly before his death. The booklet is every bit as beautiful as the music – an origami-like affair, with paper and plastic folding out to reveal some great notes and biographical information on Jobim, offering one of the coolest packages you've ever seen to hold the set's 3 CDs! Titles include "Wave", "Waters Of March", "Agua De Beber", "Bonita", "Photograph", "Dreamer", and so much more – and there's a total of 55 songs packaged with the 60 page booklet! CD

Antonio Carlos Jobim & OthersTom Pra Dois – Tom For Two ... CD
Universal (Brazil), 1960s/1970s/1980s. Used ... $16.99
A beautiful collection that looks at the way that the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim was such an inspiration for famous duet performances in Brazilian music – a mode that was already strongly in place on that nation's scene, but which seemed to flower even more strongly in the hands of Jobim and some of his bossa contemporaries! The performances here run from classic early readings of Jobim's tunes from the 60s, to later reworkings that show the way that his music could provide just the right space for personal interplay between two singers – but at a level that's always very different than the Anglo modes we know up north. Titles include "Fotografia" by Antonio Carlos Jobim & Elis Regina, "Este Seu Olhar/So Em Teus Bracos" by Lucio Alves & Sylvia Telles, "Corcovado" by Ithamara Koorax & Os Cariocas, "Anos Dourados" by Antonio Carlos Jobim & Chico Buarque, "Samba De Maria Luisa" by Daniel Jobim & Maria Luisa, "Agua De Beber" by Antonio Carlos Jobim & Astrud Gilberto, "Passarim" by Antonio Carlos jobim & Nova Banda, "Retrato Em Branco E Preto" by Cristovao Bastos & Rosa Passos, and "Dindi/Se Todos Fossem Iguas A Voce/Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar" by Quarteto Em Cy & MPB4. ✨✧ Miucha & Antonio Carlos JobimMiucha & Tom Jobim (1979) ... CD
RCA/Sony (UK), 1979. Used ... Out Of Stock
This second collaboration between these two great talents is every bit as wonderful as the first – a great later set of bossa-revival work, done by Tom Jobim and Miucha in a similar mode to his earlier work with Elis Regina! The set was recorded in New York, with spacious production from the legendary Aloysio De Oliveira – and the result's a beautiful combination of lilting melody and warm vocals that shows that Jobim could still sound wonderful, even after his initial 60s classics. Chico Buarque and Joao Donato contribute to the magic, and titles include "Turma Do Funil (No Baixo Leblon)", "Triste Alegria", "Sublime Tortura", "Samba Do Carioca", "Falando De Amor", "No Cego", and "Dinheiro Em Penca".
