✨✧ Arrested Development3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Days In The Life Of ... CD
Chrysalis, 1992. Used ... $2.99
The debut of Arrested Development – a worthy critical favorite early in it's release cycle the went on the dismissed by lot of hip hop heads after it became a hit – and a solid, spiritually resonant effort well worth a reappraisal after all these years! They really was no other hip hop group quite like Arrested Development, then or now – led by producer, writer, vocalist Speech, with a solid bedrock of classic samples and live band instrumentation. Good stuff. Tracks include "Man's Final Frontier", "Mama's Always On Stage", "People Everyday", "Blues Happy", "Mr Wendal", "Children Play With Earth", "Raining Revolution", "Fishin 4 Religion", "Give A Man A Fish", "U", "Eve Of Reality", "Natural", "Dawn Of The Dreads", "Tennessee", and "Washed Away". CD
(Out of print, BMG music club pressing.)

Gang StarrStep In The Arena ... CD
Chrysalis, 1991. New Copy ... $9.99 11.99
One of the finest early efforts from Premier and Guru – their second album – and it's not only one of Gang Starr's greatest, it's one of the greatest hip hop albums, period. Guru's mic presence is as sharply on point as ever here, and the Primo production is also at peak precision. Step Into The Area really encapsulates just about everything we love most soul beats and samples era of hip hop. Absolutely essential – and filled with killer cuts like "Step In The Arena", "Game Plan", "Just To Get A Rep", "Check The Technique", and "Who's Gonna Take The Weight". 18 tracks in all. CD

Nat Turner RebellionLaugh To Keep From Crying ... CD
Philly Groove/Chrysalis, 1969. New Copy ... $10.99 11.98
The never-issued full length album from Philly funk combo Nat Turner Rebellion – a group led by Joseph Jefferson, who'd later write great songs for others – but who here is standing strong at the head of a very righteous group! Nat Turner Rebellion issued a few singles on the Philly Groove label, but never got the chance to give the world it's full length message – and this set was rescued from lost tapes at the Sigma Sound Studios by some students at Drexel University – a great lost legacy in sound, with a funky power and positive message that's maybe more important now than ever before! These guys often have the sock-soul punch of Sir Joe Quarterman & Free Soul – and titles include "Tribute To A Slave", "Love Peace & Understanding, "Fruit Of The Land", "Plastic People", "Getting Higher Together", and "Laugh To Keep From Crying". CD
Also available Laugh To Keep From Crying ... LP 24.99

SelecterToo Much Pressure (3CD set) ... CD
2 Tone/Chrysalis (UK), 1980. New Copy 3CD ... $15.99 17.98
One of the greatest groups of the legendary 2 Tone records scene at the start of the 80s – and a group that's maybe got an even harder edge than their more familiar labelmates, The Specials! The groove here is revival ska, but with a lean, jagged quality that's very different than so many of the softer groups that sprang up in later years – definitely tied more to the sound of the late 70s punk years, overall – thanks in part to the urgency of the lead vocals of Pauline Black, who really seems to dominate the lyrics over the group's other singer, Arthur Hendrickson. Instrumentation is nice and spare – which keeps the sound sharp – and titles include "Missing Words", "My Collie (Not A Dog)", "Three Minute Hero", "Too Much Pressure", "Murder", "Out On The Streets" and "James Bond". Huge 3CD package – CD2 features singles, b-sides, and rarities – 17 tracks in all – and CD3 features live shows from Coventry and Hempstead, 16 more tracks, both previously unissued! CD
Also available Too Much Pressure (180 gram half-speed master pressing – with bonus 7" single) ... LP 26.99
