✨✧ Charles BradleyNo Time For Dreaming (plus download) ... LP
Dunham/Daptone, 2011. New Copy ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Gritty, powerful raw soul from Charles Bradley – the full length debut from the 62-year-old Brooklyn singer – backed perfectly by The Menahan Street Band! It's incredible, a record that sounds just as rawly emotional and impeccably soulful in 2011 as it would have in 1971 – much like the work Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, there's no mistaking this for anything but the real deal. Rough hewn in beautifully so – with perfect, funky backing by team Menahan. A timeless treasure! Titles include "In You (I Found A Love)", "I Believe In Your Love", "The Telephone Song", "Golden Rule", "How Long", "Trouble In The Land", "Since Our Last Goodbye", "Heartaches And Pain", "The World" and more. LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Charles BradleyBlack Velvet ... LP
Dunham/Daptone, 2016. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The great Charles Bradley left this planet all too soon – and although we've got this final album of music to enjoy, it's only a partial consolation for Bradley's early departure! The set's maybe a bit like some of the albums of Otis Redding material that were issued after his passing – in that there's some cuts here that were singles, mixed with unissued songs that really show Bradley on top of his game – working strongly with the Menehan Street Band at a level that really has us wanting more! Some of these tunes have a sharply righteous vibe – maybe even more edge than before from Charles – which makes the whole thing not just a completely essential addition to his catalog, but also a way of pointing towards a future that might have been. Titles include "Can't Fight The Feeling", "Luv Jones", "I Feel A Change", "Black Velvet", "Fly Little Girl", "Victim Of Love (electric version)", "Slip Away", and "Heart Of Gold". LP, Vinyl record album
(Black vinyl pressing. Includes download!)

✨✧ Charles BradleyChanges (with download) ... LP
Dunham/Daptone, 2016. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Jaw-dropping work from Charles Bradley – a stunning album that's maybe his best so far – and that's saying a hell of a lot, given the quality of his previous work! There's a focus and power here that really puts Charles on top – from the bold statement at the start of the record, to the range of expressive, emotive lyrics all the way through – given superb support in a range of deep soul and funky currents from the likes of Budos Band, Menehan Street Band, Gospel Queens, Saun & Starr, and Sha La Das! Yet none of these guests ever feel like they're sharing the spotlight with Charles – because, like the James Brown Show of the late 60s, all these super-strong talents are working in constellation around Bradley's majesty – a bold soul vision that's never burned this brightly before. Titles include "Ain't It A Sin", "Nobody But You", "Good To Be Back Home", "Things We Do For Love", "Crazy Love", and "Slow Love" – plus a cover of Black Sabbath's "Changes". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes download.)

Live like a funky legend with this massively-stuffed Daptone Gold collection – filled with gems from one of the coolest, funkiest record labels of the past 20 years! The set features a few special tracks for the collection, plus some numbers from old Daptone 45s – making a full length debut here – plus lots more of the classic-styled cuts that make the label so great – some of the first and best of the new wave of funk that first broke on these shores at the end of the 90s – still handled by Daptone better than most! ✨✧ Menahan Street BandThere's A New Day Coming/Tommy Don't ... 7-inch
Daptone/Dunham, 2019. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
Sweet, slow rolling funky soul on one side and more uptempo groove on the other! "There's A Day Coming" was originally recorded to back the late great Charles Bradley, and it's got the right kind of tender guitar groove and gritty underbelly for that job, but it's nicely done by the band here on their own, especially after the organ kicks in. "Tommy Don't" has a more of uptempo old school R&B sound, with more horns in the mix. 7-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Slim Moore & The Mar-KaysIntroducing Slim Moore & The Mar-Kays ... LP
Marlow, 2011. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
One of the best funk albums of the 2010s – and one that really does an amazing job of putting equal emphasis on instrumentation and deep soul vocals! Slim Moore comes across like some lost singer from the early 70s funky 45 generation – gritty and upfront, with a quality that's instantly infectious – almost like Syl Johnson during his Twinight years. Then the Mar-Kays play with this depth that's equally wonderful – mixing funky licks with more complicated soul touches – some of the vibes we've gotten from the Daptone scene – slower grooves mixed with faster ones, touches of hip instrumentation, like vibes – all wrapped up in a production style that really recalls the best days of indie soul. The whole thing's wonderful – a record we'd put right up there with Lee Fields' My World, or the Charles Bradley full-length – and a set we'll be digging for years! Titles include "How Long", "Cityscape", "Slim's Theme", "Reachin Higher", "Mar-Kays Theme", "Cool Breeze", and Help Me Now". LP, Vinyl record album
