Serge BlennerLa Vogue ... CD
Sky/Bureau B (Germany), 1980. New Copy ... $8.99
A really cool keyboard set from Serge Blenner – issued during the glory days of the German Sky Records label, but with a vibe that's a bit different than most of their other releases! Blenner works on an assortment of keyboard and electronic sources – but with a sound that's maybe more Sheffield than Hamburg, especially as there's some great use of darkness and distortion in the mix – less clean electronics than some of his Sky contemporaries, which creates a very cool, moody sound throughout! The album has eight instrumental tracks – each a numbered "Phrase" by Serge. CD
Also available La Vogue ... LP 9.99

Serge BlennerMagazin Frivole ... LP
Sky/Bureau B (Germany), 1981. New Copy (reissue)... $9.99
Overlooked electronic genius from Serge Blenner – an artist whose name and title might sound a bit French, but who recorded this set in the Hamburg underground at the start of the 80s! The work here is a nice bridge between earlier Sky Records modes and the rising tide of the German new wave – especially those corners of that scene that have gotten a lot of attention in the newly-titled cold wave generation of the time! The tunes are all instrumental, and nice and spare – with maybe elements that hearken back to the analogue electronics of very early Human League and Cabaret Voltaire – tuneful and song-based, but still really moody and dark too. Titles include "Derivatif", "Magazin Frivole", "Envoutement", "A L'Ouest", and "Polyphase". LP, Vinyl record album

RoedeliusSelbstportrait – Wahre Liebe ... CD
Sky/Bureau B (Germany), 2020. New Copy ... $16.99 18.99
A beautiful contemporary album that follows the same spirit of the vintage Selbsportrait records by Roedelius – and one that uses the same sort of vintage instrumentation too – given that the master of spare musical space works here on Fender Rhodes, Farfisa, Roland and Korg keyboards! The songs are wonderful – lyrical in a subtle way, and with maybe a slight bit more variation than some of the Ambient work by Brian Eno – although still that similar balance between silence and sound, which is why Roedelius was such a great partner with Eno on a few projects back in the day. Selections vary in length from 36 seconds to 14 minutes – and titles include "Aus Weilter Ferne", "Nahwarme", "Ebenfalls", "Gerne", "Spiel Im Wind", "Geruhsam", and "Im Kreisel". CD

RoedeliusTape Archive Essence 1973 to 1978 ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), Mid 70s. New Copy ... $16.99 18.98
Rare archival recordings from the legendary Hans Joachim Roedelius – material that's maybe even more creative and experimental than his Sky Records albums of the late 70s! The work here was all recorded on a Revox tape recorder, and has been pulled from the archives for special inclusion in this package – a set that goes all the way back to 1973, and offers up a great preface to some of the more commercially-circulated material we know and love – electronics that sometimes have more of an edge, and also tie Roedelius back to an earlier era of German experimentation. This collection offers the "essence" of the previous 3LP box – some of the best tracks, with titles that include "Bock Auf Rock", "Langmarschieren", "Rokkokko", "Unterwegs", "Skizze 3 Von By This River", "Lied Am Morgen", "Springende Inspiration", and "Nachtens In Forst". Conrad SchnitzlerCon ... CD
Paragon/Bureau B (Germany), 1978. New Copy ... $16.99
Beautiful early solo work from Conrad Schnitzler – a set that's kind of a distillation of the ideas he brought to Tangerine Dream at the start, but distilled down into much more personal territory, with a very different vibe than the sound of that group at the time! The music is every bit as electronic as you'd expect, but it's often quite poetic too – occasionally with some of the spareness of the Sky Records side of the spectrum – but with maybe more of the darkness and more experimental qualities you'd expect from Schnitzler –almost echoes of the Bowie/Eno instrumental experiments of the period. Titles include "Zug", "Metall I", "Black Nails", "Ballet Statique", and "Electric Garden". CD
Also available Con ... LP 22.99

Jimi TenorNY Hel Barca ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), 1990s/Early 2000s. New Copy 2CD ... $9.99
A collection of early work from Jimi Tenor – an artist who's maybe known best these days for his spiritual jazz and funk recordings, but one who sounded very different at the time of this material! Jimi issued much of this music on the Warp label back in the 90s – and although there's some funky elements, there's also a fair bit electronic elements too – much more in the old school Warp mode, but evolving in a surprising way over time – particularly on some of the late 90s material, in which Jimi might use larger orchestrations, or bits of reeds – warming things up, and taking directions that would mature much more strongly in the 21st Century. In a way, a lot of these cuts are a nice link with an earlier generation of electronic European experimentation – of the sort the Bureau B label usually reissues – and titles include "Spell", "Tesla", "Year Of The Apocalypse", "Xinotepe Heat", "Take Me Baby", "My Mind", "Natural Cosmic Relief", "A Daughter Of The Snow", "Shore Hotel", "Outta Space", "Unmentionables", and "Rubberdressing". VariousEasy Christmas Now – Groovy Carols For A Cozy Winter ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), 1960s/1970s. New Copy ... $16.99
A wonderfully groovy set of Christmas tracks – one done in a style very similar to the Get Easy Snow compilations – as you might guess from the title! The selection here is great – with a few perennial favorites, a few rare gems, and a great middle stretch of wonderful bits from some of the grooviest artists of the 60s and 70s – a great antidote to some of the too-played holiday music you might hear during the 12th month of the year! Titles include "Santa Claus Is Definitely Hear To Stay" by James Brown, "Close Your Mouth It's Christmas" by Free Design, "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" by Jimmy McGriff, "Snow" by Claudine Longet, "Black Christmas" by The Emotions, "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" by The Temptations, "Christmas Gift" by Margie Joseph, "Winter Warm" by Bob Crewe Generation, "Snow Flakes" by The Ventures, "Winter Symphony" by The Beach Boys, "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway, "Children Go Where I Send Thee" by Kenny Burrell, "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" by Ray Anthony & His Bookends, "Swinging Christmas" by Helmut Zacharias, and "Jingo Jango" by Bert Kaempfert. VariousSowas Von Egal 2 – German Synth Wave Underground 1981 to 1984 ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), Early 80s. New Copy ... $16.99
A really fantastic look at the German underground of the post-punk years – served up by a label who knows the territory more than anyone else! For over a decade, Bureau B have done a great job of taking us back to the hippest German work of the 70s and 80s – particularly the more electronic side of the spectrum – and for this sweet little set, they dig even deeper – offering up work by a number of artists who would never see a full length reissue, with cuts from rare singles and tapes – awash in raw basslines, beats, and keyboards! The vibe is very cold wave, but with some nice post-punk moments too – on titles that include "Mir Geht Es Danke Gut" by Plastiktanz, "Steig Den Luis Trenker" by 4712, "Name Und Distanz" by Christian Kneisel, "Tanz Ins Gluck" by Die Neue Weltmacht, "Alles Oder Nichts" by Mark Montan, "Warum Mussen Autos Fahren" by Partner Eins, "Fred Der Ritter" by Vono, "New Wave" by Rolf Jungklaus, and "Sage Nichts" by Casino Mariteam. ✨✧ VariousAchtung German Grooves – 20 Instrumental Dancefloor Killers From The 60s & 70s ... CD
Bureau B (Germany), Late 60s/Early 70s. Used ... Out Of Stock
Funky grooves galore – a massive set of work from the German scene of the 60s and 70s – most of which were never issued here in the US! The package is filled with grooves awash in the best sound library, soundtrack, and jazz funk styles of the time – electric instrumentation at the bottom, kicking up the rhythms nicely and sometimes snaking into a solo too – plus lots of horns and other acoustic elements to warm out the sound nicely! The overall feel is a fair bit like the excellent In-Kraut compilations – although the focus here is more on instrumental titles than vocal ones – and like that series, all the obscure work here is presented with full track-by-track notes – almost as proof that all of these great tunes didn't come together by accident! Titles include "Catch Up" by Catch Up, "U-Humbah" by James Last, "Mabusso" by Ambros Seelos, "Guitar Shower" by Don Kelly Band, "UFO Invasion" by Gerhard Narholz, "Mocoto" by Roberto Delgado, "BL Special" by Berry Lipman, "Sport Extra" by Hans Haider, "Tigerauge" by Walter Kubiczek, "One For You One For Me" by Hans Ehrlinger, "Soul Breeze" by Max Greger, and "Easter Afternoon" by Ady Zehnpfenning. Bureau B (Germany), 2019. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
A cool little duo – one with a sound that hearkens back to the best German electronic styles of the early 80s – which maybe you might have guessed from their retro look, and the Farfisa organ on the cover! Despite their claim of being an "over the top orchester", the sound is very spare and minimal throughout – usually just drum machine beats and these great retro keyboard elements – mostly warm and analogue-sounding, with elements that remind us of some of the German Sky Records material reissued by the Bureau B label over the years – which makes the company a great home to this contemporary group. Songs are spare instrumentals, tuneful yet moody – almost in the Test Card EP style of Young Marble Giants. Titles include "Auto Disco", "Feuer Spucken", "Morgen Danach", "LKS 98", "Kanapee Pop", "Huch Zu Ross", and "Auf Dem Roten Teppich". CD
