Bob DylanAnother Side of Bob Dylan ... LP
Columbia, 1964. Near Mint- ... $29.99
Bob's fourth record, and close runner up to Freewheelin' as the masterpiece of this early stage of his career. While the overly arch Times They Are A Changin' pretty much stood as the cornerstone of classifiable folk rock at the time, Another Side is just that. Dense, elliptical, and downright surreal at times, with some of the protesty stuff that made the media so happy & hungry, but much more layered and poetic. Another side is also much more reverent of and indebted to the Harry Smith field recordings that Bob studied so hard, the stuff that finally caught on with the general public in the early 90s. Titles include "Spanish Harlem Incident", "It Ain't Me Babe", "Ballad In Plain D", "Black Crow Blues", "I Don't Believe You", "Motorpsycho Nitemare", "To Ramona", "Chimes Of Freedom", "My Back Pages", and "I Shall Be Free No 10". LP, Vinyl record album
(Stereo 360 Sound pressing – white text with 1AC/AB matrix. Cover has light wear and discoloration from age.)

Bob DylanSlow Train Coming ... LP
Columbia, 1979. Very Good ... $5.99
The first album in Dylan's so-called "Christian Period", but it's not really the uber-dramatic departure from the "old" Dylan that it was treated as at the time – gospel soul backing vocals and testifying lyricism for sure, but it sounds more like gospel has come to Dylan than it sounds like Dylan has "gone gospel". Slow Train Coming has a focused approach, ala Blood On The Tracks, even if this train doesn't come close to crossing over onto those particular tracks – and the return to a leaner, more focused vibe is welcome one. It's got stellar studio players in the mix, and producer Jerry Wexler's production touches on a soul sound, but smartly hews to Dylan's vocal style and lyrical focus. Dylan's high bar for a masterpiece given his trailblazing past didn't give this record or the following couple much a chance to succeed on their own merits back in the day, but all these years later...wow, this is really good, passionate stuff. Includes "Gotta Serve Somebody", "Precious Angel", "I Believe In You", "Slow Trait", "Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking", "Do Right To Me Baby (Do Unto Others)", "When You Gonna Wake Up", "Man Gave Name To All The Animals", "When He Returns". LP, Vinyl record album
(Includes the printed inner sleeve. Cover has unglued seams with spots of clear tape. Back cover has a promo stamp.)

✨✧ Bob Dylan/The BandBasement Tapes ... LP
Columbia, Late 60s/1975. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Dylan & The Band's legendary Basement Tapes – those amazing late 60s Woodstock recordings – and an album that was a classic long before it was officially released in the mid 70s! Bootleg after bootleg of some these recordings might have sold enough copies on the grey market in the early 70s to go platinum back in the day, so there's little wonder that Columbia would finally get some kind of official release out there – and it lives up to the legend! Dylan's conversational, seemingly spontaneous lyricism stretches over a good portion of it, with some much more soulful numbers, too – and those are all the more effective with The Band's incredible instrumentation, backing and occasional lead vocals. Includes "Odds And Ends", "Million Dollar Bash", "Tears Of Rage", "Tiny Montgomery", "Nothing Was Delivered", "Too Much Of Nothing", "Clothes Line Saga", "You Ain't Goin Nowhere", "Open The Door, Homer", "This Wheel's On Fire, "Crash On the Levee (Down In The Flood)", "Long Distance Operator". LP, Vinyl record album
(Original 70s pressing. Cover has clear tape on the top seam, light ring wear, and a trace of a price sticker.)

✨✧ Bob DylanTravelin Thru – Featuring Johnny Cash – Bootleg Series Vol 15 (3LPs) ... LP
Columbia/Legacy, Late 60s. New Copy 3LP ... Out Of Stock
Rare and unheard material from Dylan's career redefining Nashville era – his post Blonde On Blonde Nashville era to be more specific – when he recorded the poetic story song masterpiece John Wesley Harding, the charming country folk classic Nashville Skyline, sessions that would end up on Self Portrait, and lots more with Johnny Cash than we'd ever thought would see light of day! Travelin' Thru has more interesting alternate versions and outtakes from John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline than we'd expect given how focused the former and how easygoing the latter are, but what's most revelatory here are the many recordings of Dylan and Cash together – from the Nashville Skyline sessions and for Johnny's Nashville-based television show at the time. Includes tracks with Carl Perkins on guitar and the great Earl Scruggs on banjo, too – with alternate versions John Wesley Harding material including "I Pity The Poor Immigrant", "All Along The Watchtower" and "I Am A Lonesome Hobo" and more, alternate Nashville Skyline takes such as "Country Pie", "Lay Lady Lay", "To Be Alone With You" and more, "I Still Miss Someone", "Ring Of Fire", "Girl From North Country", "Wanted Man" and lots more with Cash, surprisingly great folk & roots focused Self Portrait sessions including "East Virginia Blues" with Scruggs, and tons more. 50 tracks on 3LPs – most previously unreleased! ✨✧ Tim RoseTim Rose ... LP
Columbia, Late 60s. Very Good+ ... $19.99
A fantastic solo debut from Tim Rose – issued by Columbia Records at a time when the label was taking a strong stand with singer/songwriting giants like Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen! Rose might not be totally in the territory of those legends, but steps out from previous folk work (including a group with Mama Cass and Jake Holmes!), into a mode that's trying to carve out a more thoughtful space for a male singer in the late 60s. Rose has a full voice that's clearly influenced by soul, yet has this raspy, almost boozy charm around the edges – almost crackling at times, which only adds to the spirit of the songs – which get great small group accompaniment from a studio combo that features Bernard Purdie on drums and Artie Butler on piano. Titles include "Where Was I", "You're Slipping Away From Me", "Got A Loneliness", "I'm Gonna Be Strong", "I Gotta Do Things My Way", and a version of "Hey Joe". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono 2 eye pressing. Cover has light wear.)

Siouxsie & The BansheesThrough The Looking Glass (180 gram pressing) ... LP
Polydor (Germany), 1987. New Copy (reissue)... $14.99 24.98
Siouxie & The Banshees pick up songs from a well-chosen array of other artists – including Roxy Music, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, Television, and Billie Holiday – almost moving into that reworking-of-classics style that This Mortal Coil was using at the time – even though Siouxie's earlier work was probably a huge inspiration on that group and most of the 4AD acts to emerge during the 80s! The vibe here is similar to Tinderbox – surprisingly catchy at times, yet still with that balanced sense of drama that Siouxie could bring to her music – on tunes that include their hit remake of "The Passenger", plus "This Wheel's On Fire", "Strange Fruit", "Sea Breezes", "Little Johnny Jewel", "Hall Of Mirrors", and "Trust In Me". LP, Vinyl record album

Dino ValenteDino Valente ... LP
Epic, 1968. Very Good ... $39.99
The one-and-only album by San Francisco singer-songwriter Dino Valente – an enigmatic cat best known for penning the hippie anthem "Get Together" – and a much deeper and more adventurous writer then you'd know from that one ubiquitous song! Dino bridged the coffee shop folk scene with sprawling psychedelia on this album. He has the Tim Buckley kind of stream-of-conciousness restlessness, and the record's full of lovely acoustic guitar accompanied by unlikely horn and flute flourishes. Dino was hardly a conventional singer – so the production hand of Bob Dylan knob twirler Bob Johnston couldn't be a better fit. Tracks include "Time", "Something New", "My Friend", "Listen To Me", "Me And My Uncle", "Children Of The Sun", "New Wind Blowing", and "Everything Is Going To Be OK". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ BandBand ... LP
Capitol, 1969. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
Maybe not the first album from the legendary Band – but a record in which the group get everything completely right all the way through – and sparkle with that special sound that continues to influence generations of music makers, and music lovers! All the great elements the group were bringing to their work with Bob Dylan are in place here – but the focus is completely different, with this warm glow that really fits the vocals of Levon Helm, and a sense of unified vision that makes it really hard to even come up with a match for the energy of the group on this album. The great John Simon adds a few special touches to the overall sound – and titles include "Rockin Chair", "Across The Great Divide", "When You Awake", "Up On Cripple Creek", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down", "Look Out Cleveland", and "King Harvest". LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Bert JanschIt Don't Bother Me ... LP
Transatlantic/Superior Viaduct, 1965. New Copy (reissue)... Out Of Stock
Continuing genius from the great Bert Jansch – the singer/songwriter's second album, and one of his most sublime records ever! The album's got an up-close, personal vibe – mostly just Bert's vocals and acoustic guitar, a bit like the earliest albums by Bob Dylan – and like Dylan, Jansch has this approach that's completely his own – very much schooled in older 20th century traditions, but focused on finding a new way forward – with a mix of melodic and harmonic elements that flow from his guitar with effortless ease, and are matched by some beautifully pointed vocals by a singer who sounds unlike anyone else. At times, the tunes have a quality that's almost hypnotic – a bit of a John Fahey vibe in the progressions, but a bit warmer – and titles include "Tinker's Blues", "It Don't Bother Me", "Harvest Your Thoughts Of Love", "Lucky Thirteen", "As The Day Grows Longer Now", "So Long", "900 Miles", and "Ring A Ding Blues". LP, Vinyl record album
