Lester YoungAladdin Sessions ... LP
Blue Note, Late 40s. Very Good+ 2LP Gatefold ... $14.99
Some of the best early work by Prez – all recorded in small combo sessions for Aladdin Records during the years 1945 through 1948. The album's one of the few chances you can get to hear Prez blowing clear and free from the time, in that amazing tone which inspired generations of players, which works perfectly in groupings with players that include Dodo Marmarosa, Willie Smith, Curtis Counce, Chico Hamilton, Irving Ashby, and Roy Haynes. Titles include "No Eyes Blues", "DB Blues", "Jumpin At Mesners", "Lester's Be Bop", "Lester Leaps In", "East Of The Sun", "Just Cooling", and "Lester Smooths It Out". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mid 70s Blue Note Re-issue pressing. Cover has a split seam held by clear tape, a small rip on the opening, edge wear, and a split on the bottom right corner.)

✨✧ David BowieAladdin Sane ... LP
RCA, 1973. Very Good Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
One of our favorite David Bowie albums ever! Aladdin Sane was a real turning point for Bowie – recorded on the heels of the tremendously popular Ziggy Stardust album, but really pushing the boundaries past the more straight-ahead rock and glam of that record. Instead of just sitting on his laurels, Bowie tripped out into a wilder, weirder world with this one – mixing together elements of some of the baroque arrangements of early records, with the meaner leaner sound of the 70s – populating the songs with freaks, weirdos, and odd characters that gave the whole thing a really creepy edge. The whole thing's an oft-overlooked gem that, to us, is truly one of Bowie's most magical moments – and titles include "Drive In Saturday", "Panic In Detroit", "Aladdin Sane", "Watch That Man", "The Jean Genie", "The Prettiest Star", "Time", and "Lady Grinning Soul". LP, Vinyl record album

Aladdin/Imperial, Late 40s. Very Good+ ... $5.99 7.99
Great early work from Lester Young – an Imperial Records collection of early material from the 78rpm days of Aladdin Records! The work is a great bridge between swing and pop – and Lester Young's tone is superb throughout – on titles that include "One O'Clock Jump", "Easy Does It", "East Of The Sun", "No Eyes Blues", "The Sheik Of Araby", "Confessin' That I Love You", "Something To Remember You By", "On The Sunny Side Of The Street", "Jumpin' At Mesners", "It's Only A Paper Moon", "Lover Come Back To Me" and "Jumpin' With Symphony Sid". Aladdin, Early 50s. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
Beautiful work from tenor giant Lynn Hope – a genius of the generation that included Ben Webster, Illinois Jacquet, and Johnny Hodges, with traces of all three in his playing, plus a bit more of a bluesy twist. The tracks are all small group numbers recorded for Aladdin between 1951 and 1955 – and titles include "The Scrunch", "Tenderly", "Hope, Skip, & Jump", "Eleven Til Two", "Miserlou", "Blow Lynn Blow", "Move it", and "Summertime". David BowieChanges Two ... LP
RCA, 1981. Very Good+ ... $19.99
The second great entry in the Changes series from David Bowie – and, like the first, a well-chosen array of tracks that really get at his creative genius as a pop star – which includes a few great titles from his post-Berlin years! The set does a great job of spanning the 70s – and includes the single-only "John I'm Only Dancing (Again)" – which is a clubbier take on the earlier song that was showcased on Changes One. Other tracks run from the Ziggy years onward – and include another great single, Bowie's take on "Oh You Pretty Things" – which was more famously recorded by Mott The Hoople, although written by Bowie – plus "Aladdin Sane", "Starman", "1984", "Ashes To Ashes", "Sound & Vision", "Fashion", "Wild Is The Wind", and "DJ". LP, Vinyl record album
(Black label pressing. Cover has light wear.)

✨✧ VariousHave It Or Grab It Or Go ... LP
Clowny Clown, 1996. Near Mint- ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Excellent funky work – both new and old, with a feel that's perfect for fans of messed-up rock breaks! Side one is new breaks and loops by DJ Pete Hothead – all with a nice sinister feel to them – and side two includes such great lost breaks as "Switchblade Theme" by Ralph Carmichael, "Sour Soul" by Pool Pah, "Aladdin's Story" by The Glimmer Twins, "Have It Or Grab It Or Go" by Gershon Kingsley, and more! One of our favorites, and with a nice messed up loud sound! LP, Vinyl record album

✨✧ Lynn HopeTenderly (Score pressing) ... LP
Score, 1957. Very Good ... Out Of Stock
A full LP that appears to collect earlier sides recorded by saxophone genius Lynn Hope – presumably for the Aladdin label, and all featuring that lusty tenor sound that was his trademark during the 50s. Hope's tone alone is reason enough to purchase the record – as the album's 12 late nite dreamers are all lovely little tunes that will have you putting the disc at the top of your "after midnite" tenor play pile. Production is nice and echoey, and the whole thing's very moody. Titles include "Summertime", "Tenderly", "Blues For Anna Bacoa", "Blue Moon", "September Song", "Blow Lynn Blow", "Driftin", and "Move It". LP, Vinyl record album
(Mono maroon label pressing with deep groove. Cover has light wear, yellowing from age, and a split top seam and spine.)

✨✧ Teena MarieLady T ... LP
Gordy, 1980. Near Mint- ... Out Of Stock
A great little album from Teena Marie – one that's dedicated to the late Minnie Riperton (who'd passed during the previous year), and which is produced by Riperton's husband/collaborator Richard Rudolph. Teena's got more than a few of Minnie's tricks up her sleeve on the best cuts, singing in a smooth sweet soulful style that makes for some of her best vocals on record at the time. Lovely, soulful work from Teena – one of her best! Titles include "Behind The Groove", "Aladdin's Lamp", "Now That I Have You", "Can It Be Love", "Too Many Colors", and "Young Girl In Love".
