✨✧ SouliveNo Place Like Soul ... CD
Stax, 2007. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A bit of a shift for Soulive – a record that has a lot more of a soul-based feel than before – thanks to the addition of vocalist Toussaint to the usual jamming trio! The grooves here are still as hard and funky on the bottom as ever, but they've got a bit more vocal focus too – set up to deliver a nice punch to Toussain't raspy, classic-styled singing – all very much in hopes of reviving the older spirit of Stax Records, given that the album's the group's debut for the label! There's a slightly more contemporary feel here than we might ascribe to Stax back in the 60s or 70s – but the album's not a bad one, either – and the addition of a vocalist may just be what Soulive need to help them keep on grooving freshly into their second decade of music. Titles include "Waterfall", "Mary", "Comfort", "Callin", "Outrage", "Morning Light", "Don't Tell Me", "If This World Was A Song", and "One Of Those Days". (Deep Funk, Neo Soul) CD
(Barcode has a cutout hole.)
