✨✧ Likwit Junkies (Defari & DJ Babu)LJ's ... LP
ABB, 2005. Used 2LP ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A strong set from the team of Defari and DJ Babu of the Dilated Peoples! It's certainly no secret that our favorite hip hop is still built from soul and funk beats, and if you haven't figured it out from the Likwit's logo, a tribute to the mighty JBs, that's the kind of game they play! Defari's vocals complement Babu's beats so well that it's a wonder that this is their first LP as a team! Another treat from Cali! Tracks include "L.J.'s Anthem", "One Day Away", "The Hop", "Salute", "Change", "Strength In Numbers" with Phil Da Agony & Evidence, "Keep Doin' It", "Brother" and more! LP, Vinyl record album
(NOTE – This copy was probably a promo, and comes in a plain sleeve.)

EncoreFilthy (dirty, clean, inst)/Spectacular (clean, inst)/Illuminant Chants (street, inst) ... 12-inch
Certified, 1999. Near Mint- (pic cover)... $4.99
More niceness from our favorite side of the West Coast underground, with a feel similar to the best of the ABB label. On "Filthy", what more could you ask for – dope lyrics, production by Joey Chavez and cuts by DJ Babu (using bits of Jeru and others for the chorus) plus verses by Evidence of Dilated Peoples. "Spectacular", produced by DJ Fingaz with a nice organ sample. 12-inch, Vinyl record

Little BrotherChittlin Circuit 1.5 – Unreleased Tracks, B-Sides & Remixes ... CD
Fastlife, 2005. Used ... $5.99
A tasty helping of material from Justus League flagship Little Brother – who lit the underground ablaze a couple years ago with their debut on ABB – and hope to do the same in '05 when the Minstrel Show drops on Atlantic! Chitlin Circuit features unreleased tracks, remixes and b-sides – largely produced by 9th Wonder (natch) and Khrysis, with some guest turns by Nicolay and Young Guru. There's some damn strong s**t here – featuring the crew's signature soulful and string-laden funk production – with the tougher wordplay they've been rockin' in the couple of years since The Listening! 18 tracks in all: "War", "Third Party" feat Joe Scudda, "Honorable" feat Chaundon, "Yo-Yo (rmx)", "Nighttime Maneuvers" (rmx), "Altitudes", "Welcome To Durham" featuring Big Daddy Kane, "Flash And Flare" feat LEGACY, "Take It There", "The Beginning" feat Yahzarah and more! BeansTomorrow Right Now ... CD
Warp, 2003. Used ... $1.99
Beans hits the dirt first – here's the first post Antipop solo project. Like that crew's later work it's a lot better than us sample-loving hip hop purists want to admit – pretty much a continuation of Ahrythmia without the rest of the group. When Beans is rhyming – and for most of this LP he's right there – everything's on point. His flow is fast, smart, and crystal clear, and he has a playful way in which his delivery surrounds the beats. At his best he reminds us of recent Del. When he's sitting out on tracks, you're subjected to blips, bloops, and computer babble that's better left to the other artists on Warp. Tracks include "Roar", Phreek the Beat", "Mearle", "Raping Silence", "Toast", "Hot Venom", "Mutescreamer", Booga Sugar", "Slow Broken", and more. 14 tracks on one shiny disc. CD

Divine StylerWordpower 2: Directrix (DTX pressing) ... CD
DTX, 2000. Used ... $3.99
This is the original, independently released version of Divine Styler's third LP, which was licensed to MoWax, but is now out of print either way. As always, the Styler unleashes his sharp, intellectual rhymes in a complex vernacular, following up on the promise of the original Word Power LP, without the weird excursions he'd dabbled in on Spiral Walls, with a nanotech approach for the new millenium. 19 cuts in all, including "Satan Dynasty Killer", "Triple Irons", "One Self Duel", "Before Mecca", "Directrix", "Nova" and "Make It Plain". CD

"Lethal Dosage" features Souls Of Mischief. "Above Da Law" features Ruck, 8-Off/Agallah, Starang Wondah, Labba, & Big Twan. 12-inch, Vinyl record
