✨✧ Mellow CandleSwaddling Songs (Japanese paper sleeve edition) ... CD
Decca (Japan), 1972. Used Gatefold ... Out Of Stock
Trippy and melodic psychedelic folk with a mystical bent from Ireland's Mellow Candle – with truly beautiful and soaring female vocals – instrumentation given a sense of drama by harpsichord and some subtly dexterous guitar playing, and arch melodies that really dig deeply! Swaddling Songs is an apt titles in that the tunes sweep you up and pull you close, and often build upon their melodic sensibility in interesting ways. Titles include "Heaven Heath", "Sheep Season", "The Poet & The Witch", "Messenger Birds", "Reverend Sisters", "Buy Or Beware", "Vile Excesses", "Lonely Man", "Boulders On My Grave", Feeling High" and more. (Rock, Folk/Country) CD

✨✧ Patsy ClineTribute To Patsy Cline/Portrait Of Patsy Cline ... CD
Decca/BGO (UK), Early 60s. New Copy ... Out Of Stock
The great Patsy Cline left this planet all too soon – so soon that she never got a chance to record in the full length album mode that would soon be such a big part of country music expression in the 60s – which left it up to the labels to put together albums of her work after she died at a tragically young age! In other words, although these are greatest hits sets, they're also two of Patsy's greatest albums – filled with the kind of heartbreaking material that made her a country music legend right from the start – and an undeniable influence on American music for decades to come! The package features 24 tracks in all – filled with classics that include "Crazy", "Sweet Dreams", "Lovin In Vain", "Who Can I Count On", "Why Can't He Be With You", "Leavin On Your Mind", "I'll Sail My Ship Alone", "Your Kinda Love", "Does Your Heart Beat For Me", "When You Need A Laugh", "Faded Love", "Crazy Arms", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", and "You Took Him Off My Hands". ✨✧ Kitty WellsCountry Music Hall Of Fame Series ... CD
MCA, 1950s/1960s. Used ... Just Sold Out!
We're not normally the types to walk around singing the praises of the major labels – but hats off to MCA's Country Music Hall Of Fame Series, with beautifully remastered classic tracks that were previously nearly impossible to track down on vinyl, and excellent notes and biographical details. Honky tonk angel Kitty Wells gets the queen's treatment here – with 16 sweet, heart-tugging (but too endearing to be heartbreaking) singles originally released on Decca between the early 50s and mid 60s. Kitty sounds sad, sweet and beautifully earth-bound, with her vocals placed well out in front of the spare steel and waltz-picked guitar, and distant fiddle. Every ones a classic! Tracks include "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels", "Icicles Hanging From Your Heart", "My Cold, Cold Heart Is Melted Now", "I Gave My Wedding Dress Away", "Release Me", "Making Believe", "I'd Rather Stay Home", "Mommy For A Day", "Heartbreak U.S.A", "Will Your Lawyer Talk To God", and "A Woman Half My Age". ✨✧ Carter FamilyWildwood Flower ... CD
ASV (UK), Late 20s/1930s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
A single disc collection of all of the Carter's output for RCA and Decca from their peak years. The stark beauty of those high lonesome harmonies, and Maybelle's fluid picking will always give us goosebumps. The way these tales can stand up as both sad and proud – and fully encapsulate the misty, pine scented mountain lifestyle of the early half of the previous century and still bury themselves so deeply in our hearts today makes the Carters one of the true musical hallmarks. These 25 beautiful mono recordings probably sound as great as they possibly could on CD, and include "Wildwood Flower", "Bury Me Under the Weeping Willow", "Little Log Cabin By the Sea", ""River Of Jordan", "Sweet Fern", "Lulu Walls", "Foggy Mountain Top", "My Clinch Mountain Home", "Carter's Blues", and the amazing "John Hardy Was A Desperate Man". CD
