New Marc 4Bossa Nova For Cocktail Party ... CD
Plastic (Italy), Early 70s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
Dreamy stuff from this groovy Italian studio combo! Marc 4 are often better known for their hard and heavy funk numbers, but this set's filled with lighter bossa nova tunes – floating around like the best cuts from classic soundtracks by Armando Trovajoli, or some of the sweeter tunes from Ennio Morricone. Instrumentation includes organ, bass, guitar, and drums, plus some very nice wordless vocals – in true Morricone mode. For some strange reason, the folks at Plastic decided (or so say the notes!) to add in that "scratchy record sound" to "remind us of these old shake-bossa party from the 60s." We're a bit suspicious of this – and the real reason is probably that they transferred the material from old LPs instead of tapes – but we can kind of forgive them for that because the dreamy music is so nice! 17 tracks in all – and titles include "Summer In Love", "On The Train", "Brazilian Scene", "European Bossa", "Babette", "Atmosfere Dolci", "Brazil Sound", and "Weston". New Janko NilovicChorus ... CD
Dare Dare (France), Early 70s. Used ... Temporarily Out Of Stock
The "chorus" in the title is appropriate – as there's a flurry of wordless vocals in the mix of this one! The record feels a bit like some of Ennio Morricone's more vocal-oriented soundtracks from the early 70s – with breezy voices drifting over slightly funky arrangements, working together in a mix of moods and styles that could have only come from the pen of the godlike Janko Nilovic! Titles include "Boom Bang", "Ilion", "One Together", "Third Power", "Mrs Brown", "Down Down", and "Magical World". CD
