Aural ExcitersSpooks In Space/Marathon Runner ... 12-inch
Ze, 1978. Very Good ... $5.99
A great single from Aural Exciters – a hip New York ensemble from the late 70s, one of the seminal groups of the downtown post-disco crossover scene! The tracks feature work by August Darnell, James Chance, Bob Blank, Taana Gardner, and Coati Mundi – and is very much in the playful ensemble dancefloor mode of some of Darnell's other projects from the time – a bit more soulful than Kid Creole, with less of the quirky disco of other groups, and a very solid approach overall! "Spooks In Space" has a great chanting vocal quality, undercut nicely by a stepping space-bound bassline – and "Marathon Runner" is more standard club, but in a way that features some great vocals from Gardner! 12-inch, Vinyl record

✨✧ Patrick Cowley & SylvesterDo Ya Wanna Funk (orig, inst, radio) ... 12-inch
Megatone, 1982. Very Good ... $4.99
Early 80s post disco groove – featuring Sylvester on vocals, with a nice, electronic synth sound to the track! You might know Cowley's remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" or "Megatron Man", which have the same feel as this club cut. 12-inch, Vinyl record
(In a Megatone sleeve.)

✨✧ FreshDum Dum (original, reprise)/The Real Love/The Set ... 12-inch
Precision, 1986. Very Good+ ... $9.99
Once upon a time we knew who was behind this great raw original acid track released on this sister label to the seminal house label Trax, but honestly we can't recall right now, though that doesn't diminish how much we love this percolating Chicago classic! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Black label pressing. Label has some marker.)

✨✧ Grey & HanksDancin'/How Can You Live Without Love ... 12-inch
RCA, 1978. Very Good- ... $1.99
Two nice ones from the smooth soul team of Grey & Hanks! "Dancin" is an uptempo groover – as you'd guess by the title – but with a smooth sound that keeps the proceedings nice and soulful. "How Can You Life" is a mellower tune – a nice little stepper with a righteous approach that almost reminds us of DJ Rogers! 12-inch, Vinyl record
(White label promo.)

Nu Groove, 1991. Very Good- ... $8.99
4 tracks of jazzy underground house, by one of the lost talents of the NJ scene. For a minute, the Burrell brothers were cutting some amazing underground house numbers, and this single by Rheji Burrell has always held a special place in our hearts, with a raw but still smooth sound that reminds us of the heady last days of the Warehouse here in Chicago. (New Grooves, Soul) 12-inch, Vinyl record
(Label has some marker.)
